Are you staying too close to him? I found that Reaper E and Pistols work best against him, because that way he never does any of his sword attacks and likewise, if you have Pistols, you can shoot a barrel from the right distance.
Normally at that appropriate level, you'd want to have Bolts to deal with those.
basically, keep at mid-long range from him and clear just 1 barrel in each line, there can be up to 3 barrel lines coming in a row.
Yes, you are right. I've used the pistols. I'm not good with them, but they do seem like a good weapon for this fight. Part of my problem is there is so much going on, but my bigger problem is I have a lag problem which makes my fights much harder than they need to be.
You will straight up not be able to beat the last 2 bosses if you have trouble with the Baron.
Like others say, this is a slow burn fight, no rush to burn him down, just avoid the barrels.
Crossbow is especially nice since it can snipe barrels without you have to wait until they are imminently in your face, first.
