why can't i move things from castle to castle
so i made the mistake of building my castle on a small area with barely any space and there's a much bigger space a bit lower from the place i currently have, so i started building a second castle and tried moving a chest over to the new castle and it doesn't let me, now i'm pretty far into the game and i really really don't want to have to build several more chests to move my hundreds of items to new chests it's already going to be an arduous task by it's self the other things are fine but i really hate that i can't just move one thing from point A to B.

if you think that's bad... servants. you cannot move the servants to another castle. they'll die as you kill the castle heart.

and yes, I hate it.

You can and should submit this as feedback using their feedback form. Or contribute to a feedback thread if one is already in existence for this topic.

And yeah for the record I agree that you should be able to move servants between castles, or to "ship" items between castles.

The game sees every castle as separate entities run by separate hearts.
I actually tried to claim 2 side by side territories and build into them, but it won't even let you connect them with path or stairs, even if you own both and it's technically a valid move.

You can technically move stuff it'll just take time. You have to build a chest, move stuff from the old chest to the new one, then dismantle and rebuild the newly empty chest.

Like someone else said though, if you have servants they will die because you cannot move them between castles. Luckily not the case with prisoners though since you can "Subdue" them again.

As another note, you will need to re-upgrade your new Castle heart if you had the old one upgraded. Dismantling the old one will not refund upgrade materials, only the cost of the heart itself.. Learned that the hard way when I moved a castle too.

Good tip, if you're moving between long distances, build a teleporter at both castles, then move the chest contents, chests, and furniture bit by bit through dismantle/rebuild tactic. Then slowly dismantle the castle, the teleporter, and heart last. Saves running time.

i do plan on having a castle on both sides of the map for easy fast travel and quick crafting, i am super happy my prisoners don't die since i have a few natural %100 bloods and some higher %90's but i have done the big move and am now just sorting out the furniture but i'm upset at losing my thralls since they where really high base stats due to not knowing i could have prisoners but since i'm over half way through the bosses i'm sure i'll find some good ones to turn.

Yeah, as this guy said the real problem is the SERVANTS. Technically you can move anything else from one castle to the other by disassembling it and then reassembling it in the new location (assuming the lobby you're playing in has 100% material refund on disassembly).

Servants, however, are stuck in that location. There is no way to take them with you to a new location which seems like a huge oversight to me.

Here just vote for this suggestion. It is not mine but I thing it is a great idea: https://feedback.playvrising.com/suggestions/363096/territory-system-as-a-server-ruleset#comment503265

Not being able to move servants is not necessarily so bad. I use my farbane castle with its servants to run farbane missions for copper and hides and other basic low level resources, and my main dunley castle to run the higher end stuff. With merciless copper gear, I find the farbane castle's servants are comfortably able to run anything up to lower dunley missions like the iron mine or the villages. Connect your castles with teleporters and it's a breeze getting around.

can move servants all you need is the potion subdue destroy any free prisons in the old castle then use the pot with an empty cell at the new place. then build a coffin for them and toss them in. done.

That's not moving "servants" that is moving prisoners and then turning them into servants. You still lose your original servants.

As to "why" you can't move servants, the answer is simple: the game is in early access and this feature has not yet been considered or if it has been considered, did not make the cut for implementation in the Gloomrot update. Conceivably a major QoL pass to castle management features, including multi-castle management, is forthcoming, but we haven't heard anything so far.

If you examine the current situation with castle management, it appears that managing multiple castles is not the intended gameplay here, and that they've primarily focused their dev work on features enabling you to manage a single castle effectively. Will that be expanded on? I believe it will, and that it's a natural way to build out the game and improve player QoL, both of which they've demonstrated their desire to do in the Gloomrot update in many other areas. But again we haven't heard anything concrete from them.
