Steamworks Initialization Failed (June 30 2023)

Can't get into the game after the latest update - getting "steamworks initialization failed" on intro screen. I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 using Proton 7.something. Was working fine before update.

I encountered this on Steam Deck. I went into the Compatibility section of the game Properties menu, checked "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" and "Proton Experimental", and that seemed to fix it.

Doesn't fix anything on my side ... only game's freezing on a black screen then nothing else. Have to alt-tap to close it... Idk what happened with the latest update :(

Same, broken with Linux Mint 21.1. Proton Experimental fixes it but something's clearly wrong, I've not had to do that with this game before.

+1 for steam deck latest update affected, using proton experimental works as a workaround for now
