what does sleeping do in a single player game?

heal you?
anything?
so far it just seems to hide you from the sun if you have no walls.

It doesnt really do anything no. Its just a place where you can spawn when you die, and enter to sleep in with no bonus effects.

As above, adding that it reduces blood drain over time to zero, so its a good place to afk in. Which may still make sense in SP in case one sets it up as LAN that cant be paused.

It's a safe place that stops your blood decaying.

As others have said above, stop Blood Hunger/AFK. If you play with friends and you need a break you can Rest in a Coffin without having to shutdown your private server.

Some folks also just go afk and let the game run so their servants can continue raiding, if they're on a private server.

I've been letting my solo game run afk sleeping In coffin over nights, and 3 times in a row i came to pc with it saying out of blood.
