To be fair it is called the "Haunted IRON mine"... all you had to do was read after you discovered it.
*insert "We Don't Do That Here" meme*
*shrugs*
If you look on the altar menu it shows the iron ingot recipe, its called reading and exploring the games UI and features.
We have eyes for a reason.
The age of information truly has ruined video games. lucky for you this is a simple one.
Its called exploration, and if your gear score was at the best it could be and the entire rest of the map is there, surely there are better mats to get.
Surely if there was a copper mine, your head must of gone "wonder if there is an iron mine"
again eyes, common sense.
Games also balanced for pvp, so the mines being a single spot is to encourage player engagement and competition.
The most challenging thing in the haunted mines is the boss that paths through (Meredith the Bright?) and that green stuff that flies out of the up in the air. It's easily avoided. Wait until you have to get silver ore.... Ugh. That place sucks.
