Unless you know and are able to port-forward/open the ports for the online play (depending on your router too in some cases), which on Windows can be a lot of work to do.
And it can be done as easily as just downloading the V Rising Dedicated Server and running it with the start_server_example, and whenever you want to change something, you'd usually go to
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\VRisingDedicatedServer\VRisingServer_Data\StreamingAssets\Settings and editing (using Notepad) ServerGameSettings, which for the most part are intuitive, but for some I read the https://techraptor.net/gaming/guides/v-rising-server-setup-and-config-guide that explains certain parameters more clearly.
e.g. tired of grinding materials in solo playthrough, Ctrl C (sometimes twice for the prompt to show up, in the server's window) and close the server.
Now you'd go to the aforementioned settings file, and change "MaterialYieldModifier_Global": 1.0, to "MaterialYieldModifier_Global": 5.0, - Ctrl S (save), close the file, restart the server, and whenever you chop down a tree, you've got five times the wood, spending more time actually playing rather than grinding materials.
If you start to feel like it's a bit much, you can close the server and change that setting back or to something else.
You can also change how much damage you take and deal, though, in my testing those are a bit bugged or inconsistent, failing to apply sometimes, so your mileage may vary.
Exactly. You can give yourself as much or as little advantage as you want.
- Multiply any of your stats by up to x5;
- Multiply your gear bonuses by up to x5;
- Reduce boss/common enemies attack and/or defense by 99%;
well , if you're SOLO, you should set resource gathering and build speed etc to max
There's no point padding your game out to 300 hours when there's 40 hours of content
The one thing I wouldn't 'cheat' with is the combat difficulty , if anything I'd turn it up - less NPC HP but more NPC damage or something similar, More threat less bullet sponge.
Also , if you're like me , and want to build large elaborate bases - then cheating for resources is a must if you want to keep your sanity.
- This is all Solo offline , having a big base doesn't benefit you in any way so :L
I don't think it's hard, certain things are time consuming - sometimes justifiably , other times it's unnecessary padding to prolong the game.
I've completed this game twice (all bosses separate servers) - as long as you overlevel yourself for each boss it's easy - it's only difficult trying to kill them when you're 5 or so power levels beneath them.
The final 3 bosses are a decent challenge regardless - but it didn't take me more than 3 attempts on either of them - just use 'meta' builds.
Cheating only to bypass tedious grind is completely fine, whatever you feel 'tedious' may be - we don't play games to waste time doing things which aren't fun... >< , well, some people do... whatever, they can do them.
A good example is in Assassins creed Odyssey - where Ubisoft sell "Time savers" for cash in the store < fk that :L , you can cheat for the exact same thing, it's just senseless padding so they can moneygrab. (That game is awesome, but it is heavily padded - easily fixed with cheats)
I dislike Cheating to make fights easier - I play every game of mine on the hardest difficulty from the start, most games have difficulty settings for people who want them anyway... and if they don't , then it's down to the individual if they want to cheat for the same effect.
Like people who use the Elden Ring 'easy mode' mod , completely up to them imo... even if it's disgusting ^^
Solo offline, people should play how they want - cheats or not.
