sunlight
So I have not bought the game yet, one thing I was wondering about before i decide to buy.

How does sunlight play in this? I read there are day and night cycles.
does sunlight kill you?

running from shadow to shadow so i don't get killed by sunlight sounds like it would ruin the fun.

after a while it burns you and it gets faster and faster the longer you are in it but you only have to step in a shadow you dont even have to be in a full shadow just step in it and you are good

It encourages you to hunt at night, its safer that way. Hunting in daylight is quite difficult you can only stand in the sun for a few second before you get burnt to death. Fighting in forests is ok as you have lots of trees for cover.

Yes, you start taking damage after a period of time and eventually die.

There's an option for Sun damage in the settings. If you set it to 0 then you will not take any damage and therefore cannot die.

This is either for single player or for a server you own (or rent) if you want to play with friends.

You might also try searching for some unofficial PvE servers with no sun damage, but I don't know how many of them are still functioning.

The game is being offered for free right now if you want to try it out for yourself.

Ruin the fun..its one of the things that makes sense in the game that sunlight as a vampire kills you.

If you just play with friends on PvE private server you can set everything to your liking, we left daylight at original lenght but tripled time of night, so it can still catch us when we overextend ourselves, but we are not limited to stay in forest half of the time /And when you start to meet garlic fields you will realize Sunlight is least of your problems :)/

You can tweak duration of a day in server settings. Also, it's actually fun dashing from tree to a tree. It's not like you perish with first ray of sunlight.

Day/night duration is a server setting.
Standing in the sun gives a very obvious warning for a few seconds. Then you explode into flames and take HUGE damage until you poof.

The day time has trees, random roof coverings and random cloud cover for protection. Sit in a shadow to cool off.

On default settings, I've found day time never really discourage me from going out during the day. Its easy enough to jump from shadow to shadow and even draw enemies into shaded areas when at encampments.

But it was also impactful enough to make me play around it, or want to avoid certain boss arenas and come back later.
