Castle Decay as a solo player
So, I tried this out on the free weekend, because it looked cool: a vampire-themed survival game with MOBA / ARPG controls. I quite liked Battlerite and am glad Stunlocked Studios has finally had the mass success they deserve.

But, Castle Decay. I need to add Blood whatever to the Heart to keep the Castle intact; presumably, it's a mechanism to prevent players who quit the server from hogging land. But I have a knee-jerk hatred for any game where I 'have' to play or suffer consequences.

How does it work in solo play on my own private server? If I'm the only one who uses a server, does Blood only get consumed when the server is online (i.e. when I'm playing)? And in general, how playable is this game as a solo player who has no interest in the cutthroat nature of multiplayer survival? Or would I be better off sticking with the solo / co-op play of Valheim, Terraria, and Subnautica?

If in solo part, our castle this destroys. It’s stupid.

Currently the mechanics are the same offline and online but time does not flow when you are offline so it wont decay if you play. Also you can always change game settings to reduce decay to near zero and turn off no blood decay.

Still, while i can imagine where your knee jerk reaction comes from. The decay is there not to make you play more but to automatically clean after you when you decide to stop playing.
It is laughably easy to keep the castle from decaying, unless you only have access to PC once a week.

As for cutthroat MP survival, VR is probably the most friendly "cutthroat PvP" i've ever tried. Or you can just play PvE with others. Game imho is still worth it for solo/offline, as long as you dont expect it to be tailored for it (you are still making a "server" when playing offline and you can tweak world parameters to better fit offline, notably servant timers, rest is pretty good with stock solo settings).

Okay. So, if I play solo, and I stop for a week. My castle will not be destroyed when I log in ? XD

^ if you're playing on offline (aka your pc is acting as a pseudo-server) then yes. but if you're playing on any public server then it'll be destroyed.

If you host a local server time only passes when you're in the game.

Pretty good. It's like one of the earlier versions of Terraria, without complete content (it's early access).

If you see clowns on this forum complaining they can't beat bosses because "hurr-durr the game is meant for multiple players" know that they're mad coz bad. It's perfectly beatable solo.

If you make your own game then no.

If you play "solo" online then you'll need to progress to unlock castle that can last longer than week... thou this can also change depending on server settings. Which you can review before joining.

dude...even if you play online, and just play some hours....to upgrade the heart, it ll be on for weeks if not many days I don't get why you get annoyed by this. Its actually a great mechanic to keep the maps fresh and not cluttered with trash from abandoned players. Also, if you are playing local solo, you can meddle with the settings....
Eh, it looks like this game might not be the one for me; I'll head back to Terraria / Valheim.

Even if your castle runs out of blood, it isn't automatically destroyed. It makes it so that if another player comes along, and your castle is out of blood, that player can break down walls outside of PVP Raid times. And if they get to your castle heart they can destroy the entire castle instantly.

So if no one comes along, even if your castle is out of blood, it will stay up.

Create your own private server. Set the Castle Decay to 0... poof, no castle decay.
