Cave systems work, though.
Equip the slashers:
Run up to the enemy, do a well timed dash forward followed by slasher invisibility (and keep walking away from them). You can avoid 99% of all non boss fight this way. It takes a little while to get it down right, but practice makes perfect.
Use a horse:
Pedal to the medal
In both cases you will outrun your charmed follower and the game will spawn it in from time to time.
Of all the followers I brought home, I only ever lost 1 when using these tactics.
Even dragging someone from Brighthaven to the starter area is totally possible to do.
However that only works if the server you're on allows more than 1 castle heart, and you haven't already used them all up. Also it's probably easier to do when you're planning to look for a human to charm as you need to take up inventory space with the resources. So might not be too convenient when you're just exploring/resource gathering.
If you can't do that method, then a fast horse is your best bet and try your hardest to avoid the fire throwing enemies lol
Most important is to bring a horse with the highest max speed you can find + wrangler's potions.
Charmed humans will move at your speed no matter what, so the faster the better.
Lastly is how you avoid arrows/charges. Give mobs a wide berth as you pass, then cut back into the road at the last second to dodge their attacks. If you can make them attack to the side, they will always miss your follower.
That's a pretty interesting idea too.
Fast horses are the best option, and basically the only option. Run at full speed through enemy patrols and don't stop until you reach home base.
You never know when you'll stumble upon someone worth charming, and the coast is literally never clear because things respawn quickly on the long road back to your castle.
Yeah I lost a 91% and a 100% myself -.- against random NPC fights
Need the 100% worker in my castle first :P
