Lost interest
I've tried several times to play through the game. But the cooldowns are just too aggravating. It starts out easy, you and pretty much blow through every boss in Farebane without any problems. And then you hit a brick wall where no matter how good you are it doesn't matter because your ability cooldowns take so long that all your abilities are useless, and if you are not putting out enough damage and have enough armor to tank all the enemies, you are dead. Around level 60 or so it starts to balance out again and there are a few boss fights that require skill and well timed abilities. And then you hit a brick wall again. You will go into a boss fight, use an ability, the boss attacks, you dash out of the way and hit your arrow rain. Follow up with another ability. The boss hits you with 3 more of their own. You try to dash... 8... 7... hit 3 more times 6... 5... hit 3 more times. Start spamming every button you have. 12... 11... hit 3 more times. All you can do is just stand there completely helpless while everything is on cooldown. I have no interest in playing a game where the entire combat system is useless because the cooldowns are so long that it renders you a sitting duck for 90% of the fight.

thx for this very brief description of how " good " the fighting dynamics are . cd times , and just how you said - the moments where you would need to kite or wait or dodge - it ´s exactly what annoys me as well , totally this . Having nuthing at hand if you take a close look and this is what kills games imo . thx for mentioning this important detail !

Sorry to say it but you boys are sleeping at the wheel as there are several ways to reduce cooldowns:
1) One specific ring/pendant/amulet per tier does just that: reduce ability cooldowns...to that you can also add:
2)Some spells(like mist trance) that immediately reset one ability cooldown
3)high quality warrior blood reduces all weapon abilities cooldowns
4)high quality scholar blood reduces all spell cooldowns&provides the chance to recast a spell instantly(even 3 times in a row isn't all that rare(some spells have bigger odds then others to trigger it...))

At the peak of what is a proper build(not the amateur hour builds can't be arsed to do my homework you boys are 'bragging' about) the most down time you will ever have is about one or two seconds after fully unloading on smth.

There are folks out there that figured out how to beat the end game bosses while being frailed and 10levels below them and here you proud boys stand clueless on how to decrease yr frigging abilities cooldowns...this is just priceless :steamfacepalm:

@OP get a 100% rogue and put it into a prison cell and bleed it for 100% rogue blood vials 24/7. You dont need to use your dash skill to dodge most attacks this way and save the dash for the undodgeable attacks.

OP wants to cry OP does not want to get better

How can one find themselves in the cool-down state while we literally have standard weapon attack, 2 weapon skills, 2 spells and a dash?

I would recommend utilizing all the game has to offer i.e. crafting potions, imprisoning all blood types at 90% or higher, changing out weapons, spells according to mechanics. The game gets much easier with these methods and learning fight mechanics. I love the challenge of the game and don't think its overly hard once you utilize all aspects. I am ready for new content like you wouldnt believe. Love this game!

I wouldn't call it hard at all. On the contrary the game is pretty easy. The dev simply substitutes complex game mechanics which could increase the difficulty with extreme cooldown times.
This is probably the worst trend in gaming today aside from pay-to-win games, which I don't even count as real games. Pay-to-win "games" are simply digital money toilets for stupid people. So aside from that, the worst trend in gaming today is the substitution of real difficulty with simplistic handicaps. In this case it's absurdly long cooldown times. Other examples are instant death mechanics where you can just be walking along collecting resources or fighting mobs, and with no warning and no ability to negate or counter, something just pops out and instant kills you, or you get struck by lightening and die, or an invisible sniper from 10 miles away headshots you, etc. Or in certain trash racing games they will make your car artificially slower, or give the AI cars extra speed. Sure this is not as bad as some of those things, but it's a similar "shortcut" mechanic that adds nothing to the game and only superfically seems to make it harder. It's not harder, it's just playing with lead weights on my character.

It's like playing Project Cars and everyone has a Ferrari, but the AI Ferrari's are all supercharged, and mine is dragging a tractor. That's not "hard", it's just giving them a ridiculous unfair advantage.
It's like playing Tekken but i'm not able to use combos, and the other guy can juggle from any int.
I'm just waiting for the gem shop to pop up in the middle of the boss fight like "Tired of waiting hours for your abilities to reset? Buy this booster pack for $299 and we will throw in a bonus stack of grass. Limited time offer."

I'm recording a whole playthrough starting at the beginning. You can pretend the cooldowns are not a problem all you want, but then everyone can watch me stacking every reduction in the game and still not having abilities to use when they are needed.
mefisto57001 Aug 20, 2022 @ 12:39pm
give me the recordings of your boss fights
