FREQ: More permission settings
I would like more settings for permissions and who's allowed to do what. For example, I like playing PvE and I have a clan but I often will venture with others not in my clan. Our abilities get in the way of each other, even if no damage is done. ie they block my ranged shots and I'll be affected by their CC.

So, I think there should be at least 3 options, then tweaks for each of those.

* Solo - no one has any permissions other than you.
* Allies - people who are friendly, but you don't share resources with.
-- Combat as per clan (no damage,cc interference, can heal)
-- Can use Vampire Gate
-- no build options
-- Options to set door and chest access on/off for each, perhaps per item or by specialize door/chest to allow access to Allies.
-- Allies can't affect allied servants or caged prisoners (give a warning, same with normal chests)
-- Option to leave alliance only done at your own Castle Heart (Throne?).
~ It makes more sense from throne, but would need a mini-throne before current Throne. Something accessible early game.
* Clan - trusted members of group
-- Combat as normal
-- Gate use as normal
-- Build options: full access, build only, or builder role set per member
-- Private chests (still can be raided by non-clan, non-allies)

How exactly would more permissions options "ruin the game" for you?

At the very least, a level of association below the current 'Clan' system would be immensely helpful.
(Name it 'Allies' or 'Associates', and have it focus on the combat and traversal benefits as the original post describes; no build/access permissions.)

Alternatively, player-controlled access permissions would be ideal.
That way each player can decide how much access they want to grant for certain features: Anyone, [Allies], or Clan members.
(Features being: doors, crafting stations, chests, waygates, etc.)

And whilst it would be extra work, the idea of object-based permissions would also be very helpful.
That way a particular base could (in theory) have a "public" area, an "Allies" area, a "Clan" area, and a "Personal" area, all determined by door permissions.

I think it would be a very nifty setting for a PvE server! I hope the PvP players don't have to deal with 3 clans teaming up to 100% rule the server but it would be nifty if PvE players could cooperate in battle without necessarily sharing the whole of their house and home.

I, for one, like to have my own stuff in a PvE server. I want to progress myself, grind the mats myself, fight the bosses myself.... very Darksoulsy. That said, I still like supporting friends in their battles and it feels weird, sometimes, that I have to share my coffers with them if I intend to spend healing on them.

The ability for players to change, mid-game, on-the-fly, who gets affected by their attacks and spells would break the game. If you're in a clan, the people in your clan don't take friendly fire. Everyone else does. Being able to expand that to include whomever you want would essentially be a cheat around the clan size limits.

Also, please stop necroing year old threads just to pick stupid arguments.

I was thinking more for PvE. PvP should remain the same.

The reason why it on our community PvE server we often ally with people not in clan to go beat a boss and our attacks interfere with each other even though no damage or healing is applied. Having PvE allies use your gate but not your resources seems reasonable to me, unless you have chests you let anyone access.

Other games I play, it's very easy to ally temporarily but V Rising, not so much.
I'd like to see this implemented into the game. I understand we should only invite people that we trust, but no one is perfect, relationships change and there's always the potential issues with friends of friends. If they give server owners the ability to easily customize everything and info in the server list for what they've chosen, then surely people shouldn't have much of a problem with it, seeing they could choose another server to play on.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A couple more things I'd like to see:

Give clan owners the ability to create ranks for per object permissions (chests, doors, building, etc...) and be able to name each rank for RP. It is not an issue of not wanting to share, but instead to avoid bad actors and give peace of mind to everyone in the clans that want to use it.

Maybe when it comes to alliances, make it a group in itself instead of a clan to clan thing. When a clan makes an alliance with another clan, an alliance group is created and every clan leader is required to vote to add/remove clans to/from the alliance group. A leader of their own clan can leave without any voting. Server owners could also set the max number of clans that can join an alliance group and a cooldown for joining/leaving them.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just wanted to add my little two cents. Hope everyone seeing this has an awesome week! :claugh:
