centered character with zoom options. id say do that. they probably did the floating camera system to differentiate from other games but there are good reasons some of those are so successful. a smoother interface is always a good thing. lock options with zoom settings. make both a toggle.
Basically hold right click to start camera rotation mode, alt tab out, release right click, and alt tab back in. Now you can just spin camera around and cursor is no where to be found.
Issues with it: Actually kinda harder to aim everything and also it will break the moment you open inventory or any other menu.
