It's just a race for now.
Those who fall behind give up when they see higher iLvl.
Servers are empty after 2-3 days
It's lack of content. Players need goals.
so what are you doing now you finished all PVE content?
FPBP
PvP could be better but it is fine as it is, it doesn't make servers die. Progression do.
The main reason for server living only for 1 day is too rapid progression if you know how to abuse game mechanics.
Essentially experienced players can skip T1 entirely, in few hours since start they already iron, 5-6 more hours - and they in 70+ with ults and stuff, and there is no real endgame for them so they just roam looking for fight for a bit then leave for next server because there is nothing more to do.
Mind you, at the same time people who just chilling and/or building castles would still be at the top tiers of t1. Even tho they played the same amount of time and put in the same effort.
And after day 2 no new people would join server except noobs, who don';t know that this is an one-day-serverlifecycle game. So it dies.
Anyway, in his video, Josh mentions the reasons that Full Loot PvP games don't work. Then V Rising comes out, and pretty much proves everything he said. Even if a server isn't Full Loot or PvP-focused, the game itself is still brutally difficult, and casual gamers don't have time to spend refarming for hours on end, just to lose all their stuff again.
So basically PvP design? You think PvP design is a term limited to actual engagement? I took it as overall experience which is what you have described.
We just got a PvP balance patch to cut off the chaos volley simulator and everyone is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crying lol, Progression still the biggest reason why server die so fast.
People don't want to play in a server where a clan at first day is already 81 with all souls stones.
I haven't heard of any servers like that for some reason, but if the PVP in this game is "good", then that server should not die, but my guess is that it too will die within days.
The only way to know for sure is to make that server and see what happens, in the worst case scenario you will end up with a healthy server that doesn't die and the proof that the problem lies in the journey and not the destination.
People like him are just grifters who trash on every new, trending game just to get hate views. I wouldn't take their opinion seriously. It's like the easiest way to get views on Youtube. [Trending game] Is the worst game ever!. 'This game sucks!!!'. Seriously the people who claim to 'love MMORPGS' hate every one they play. Makes you think if they really like it or not. Be like me reviewing sports matches, saying they all suck, then claiming to be a huge fan of them
The PvP is okeyish, since is a watered down Battlerite PvP style and I hope with the new changes it gets better since there will be more options than just chaos volley spam. Progression in the other hand is completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥, everyone is racing to get max ILVL to bully low levels out of the server and they are too ♥♥♥♥♥ to deal with people of their same level. Even just for pure spite, i got myself to 81 in those kind of server and started to hunt their asses to just realize they actually ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks at pvp and gear was the only thing they had.
