"Bosses" really suck.
Making bosses HP sponges is bad game design.
Making bosses hit like trucks is bad game design.
Giving bosses no weaknesses is bad game design.

And yet every boss has the first and second problem, and every 3rd boss had all three problems.

Why would you design a boss that can outrun the player, hit like a truck, and has attacks that trigger big AoEs or drops a lot of damage outside of the main attack area so that even if you dodge the big attack, you still get hit by the AoE or secondary effects of the attack?

I just tried to fight the bear boss and it's faster than me, hits harder than I can heal with a full blood setup, and even if you dodge its big ground pound attack, the area around it gets hit by falling rocks, meaning you not only have to dodge the attack, but then have to keep retreating in the tiny cave as rocks fall. But once you've retreated a little bit, the bear will use a charge attack, often from off-screen, and slam into you.

This single boss just randomly has complete coverage of every battle strategy a player might throw at it. And before the bear, it was the pig-headed necromancer that could shield itself and teleport away from damage and covered the area with AoEs that you had to run through to reach it, and its teleportation often carried into other enemies that would aggro you and raise skeletons to block you. Again: Full coverage defense. You can't run in because of skeletons and lingering AoEs, and when you do make it in, the enemy just shields itself or teleports away or both.

There's no nuance or skill to these battles, so they shouldn't be so impossible. The combat system in the game is far weaker than the likes of a standard ARPG/Diablo-like game, so you can't throw enemies into the game that would be challenging even in an ARPG with great combat and 6 skill slots.

The bosses are bosses for a reason!! This isn't nearly as hard as Dark Souls, or Elden RIng, yet people beat that game... try harder and complain less. That is the solution... it's NOT bad game design!
This wouldn't be too much of an issue if the dash was 5 seconds long.

But I mean, the bosses are neat and interesting. It's mostly down to a few things such as their Aoe abilities which can be more annoying than a challenge, their healing ability (if they have one which heals for too much) and/or their location.

1v1 tradtional boss arena battles are enjoyable. But dealing with the sun Priestess while Jade walks by and 3 other patrols along with her ability to heal herself for so much, in combination, makes for a not so enjoyable time.

The shepard was fun because it was just me and him. Jade wasn't because I had Sun priestess and stupid Vincent creeping on her from a distance. And these fights aren't short so you sort of need to play careful but that takes time so it would be nice if 5 different patrols didn't walk by in the middle of it all, ya know.

Again some bosses are enjoyable but the ones that aren't, are mostly just annoying because they set you up in just a stupid situation.

Yeah combat and boss design wasnt done well by any standard but world creation and resource gathering was done very well.
amen op all the bosses are the same spam attacks spam aoe damage that cover the arena surrounded by 100s of minions
i think you need to try Roblox. This is your level.
Hope you leave V rising, bye
Just got the Frostmaw and holy hell, none of you can defend that trash. The game does not have a camera sensitivity slider, so bosses that jump around can be hard to track when they jump across your screen and out of sight. Controlling your character while trying to adjust to the changed input directions also sucks. So they designed a boss that STOPS FIGHTING YOU every few seconds to just run around in circles and summon a blinding blizzard with AoEs that pop up inside of it? That's garbage design.

I grumbled and went with it and got the thing down to ~1% hp on the first try but I was pissed off the entire time because it took 10 seconds to figure out how to fight the thing before it pulled out the "run away and then back in and then away and then back in" strategy that beats you by abusing terrible user interface design instead of just making the boss actually difficult.

I had a blood moon and took out Tristan and Christina (and ran like hell from Jade) and went to kill Frostmaw in the final hours of the night and everything was going great until it started charging off my screen and forcing me to slowly turn the camera only for it to do it again and again and again for several minutes.

And you literal children want to try to tell me this is a hard game? That this game is comparable in difficulty to a Souls game? It's just badly made. You're not good for banging your head against a badly made game. You're not good for being a masochist. You all sound like the equivalent of Dark Souls 2 fanboys that only claim it's their favorite Souls game because everyone else bashes it all the time.
Most bosses are very well designed and quite fun to fight.

Your iq is too low to even increase your mouse sensitivity to turn the camera faster, go play a game that has special needs mode.

Wow mad cuz bad. I can beat the bear boss hitless at level 20 with chaos valley and the starting counter. So can anyone with more than 2 braincells. One of the easiest bosses in the game once you know his attack pattern, can literally avoid every attack with dash and counter.

Personally this feels like the problem, you're forced to use a counter against some bosses without the game telling people that some bosses absolutely 100% require such skills in any way. If you don't, you just have to wait until your gear score is high enough to just outdamage it before it puts you in the ground. Most people are going to go the pure damage route and try to rely on dodging, because that is the dedicated defensive button, but the defensive skills have no specified slot, but sometimes are required to progress at level.

Cry some more lel
Bear wasn't too hard really.

I feel like that fight works well with a defensive setup, focused on quick hit and run or fast burst hits in the small downtime you get.

Having the blood shield, the heal-dash and blood-rite / counter worked wonders in that fight. All about juggling those skills effectively, and you should be golden. Sorry, can't remember all of the names.
A boss that has a high attack rate that gives you few or no openings does not allow for a back-and-forth.
I dont see how boss in MH or Soul game is standing idle and allow you for attacking. you attack during their wind-up animation or post attack animation.

A boss that can't be evaded because it magically floats to track you as you circle around it or teleport to the other side of it does not allow for a back-and-forth.
All the boss do not immediately float or teleport, it only after the opening window is expired. It is you the player do not met the window.

A boss that punishes even the slightest of greedy hits by taking off 10-30% of your hp does not allow a back-and-forth.
huhuhuhu, in MW or SoulGames boss take away more than 30% of your hp in single hit or just one shot you if you are not gear up. I do not see how this can a point of complaining since you already love playing MW or Soul.

A boss with tons of health that takes so long to kill that you must execute ideal responses for several minutes without making too many mistakes does not allow a back-and-forth.
you are not require to execute ideal response in MW or Soul???
The only boss that really killed me was Tristan because he got the jump on me f-ing with bandits during the day. Nicholaus I think got me once too I have found all the boss fights to be really fun and lively so far. I have run away from Jade just yet though because of memes >.>

The ONLY thing I don't like about bosses are that sometimes they just run away from you back to their patrol route and instantly reheal to max HP, even if you hit them with something hoping to aggro them back. Mobs do that too. In a way that is good so that you don't have hordes of mobs and bosses chasing you across the whole map, but sometimes that is super annoying.

So you have problems with the bosses yet your main problem is the level 35 bear? It’s a you problem not a game problem. U can dodge all the bears attacks walking saving your dodge for his multi swing attack combo. Like others have said mad cuz bad
