First - you need some fast TELEPORT home WITH your loot or much faster way of travel.
Second - you need a CHEAP way to build your house, this grindfest for resources is beyond annoying.
Third - idk, this game needs some focus, more interesting world, fun abilities or items, some exciting goal... it becomes boring very fast and more bosses will certainly not fix it.
Mechanically the combat is basic as ♥♥♥♥ but customizable and it does the job nicely. i'd prefer more Dungeon Keeper-esque aspects with the ability to tame/control spawned mobs, maybe have them patrol my Castle and back up me or my servants on hunts and so on.
While promises to bring in new weapon and boss sounds cool. It's not sustainable, its just a short-term thinking. It's not something people will stay for long . . . at best a week, then you go back to the same state right before the new patch ... not many royal customer.
The game is in EA process yes, but the vision of making this great concept game alive also important.
If the game is not worth the time of player, people just move on.
I hope this game will go to the path where it can entertain lot of people, I really hope so.
Just some opinion, no offense to anyone.
I think, short term, branching gear progression a bit would provide a bit more variety at least. Have some sidegrades and the like like how spell casting items work, more stuff like the General's Soul Reaper, that sort of thing. Just to present a little more variety. That and a little more depth to the servant system like giving the option to jsut have them use the weapon you equip them with [requiring just copy-pasting the player moveset and a basic AI for it] would be a good short term adjustment mechanically that likely wouldn't be too intensive.
But the core skeleton of the game mechanically has already been built, it really does need some more meat to it, to have the narrative fleshed out a bit. Maybe a branch of the Servant system involving recruitable named NPCs, like merchants or the like, giving you someone to talk to, attach some small sidequests to them to explore the world and give a bit more context than what's in boss dialogue and blurbs.
Just something to interact with in a way that isn't based around damage numbers. The little we have of the setting is interesting enough, I'd like to actually explore it.
FTFY
People keep saying it's a survival game but really only in the most basic sense of the word. you build a shelter and need to eat something. Problem is that the shelter is pretty much a static unthreatened by anything safe zone and blood is literally ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ everywhere,.
Like sure it's a "survival" game, technically, but nobody who's into the genre would actually call it one, because tbh the mechanic despite being at the baseline is so tacked on and effortless unless you really ♥♥♥♥ with things. It's like calling Breath of the Wild a survival game because it has weapon durability, some crafting, and a food system. Honestly, you'd have a stronger argument than V Rising.
V rising as it is, mechanically, is really more a crafting-action game ala Terraria with some survival elements. There's not much RPG or Survival going on here, the former needs fixing, and honestly most genuine survival games kind of run into the problem of "You did the challenge or project you wanted to do and finished the last of the real content, now unless you're a child you'll put it away forever next to Minecraft and only ever play it again if your friends want to maybe." very frequently. And those are the rare good ones.
NPC castle raid & Outposts and Camps growing - Just what PvE needs DESPERATELY right now
Bosses teaming up - Imagine Behemoth teamed up with Winged Horror. Imagine Solarus supported by endless heal of Raziel and Azariel. HOLY **** LOL
Weather issues & NPC's war faring against each other - these bring me back to Skyrim. would be nice to see these alive in game
"Survival" in massively multiplayer games like V rising is based on survival in hostile society of agressive players. That is where the difficulty comes from.
Tbh, I cannot name even a single one game, even singleplayer, where you would really need to sweat and go above and beyond just to stay alive vs environment/NPCs only. (If you can advice such game will be appreaciated)
Large part why castle building here is boring, is because devs neglected they key mechanic that sparks and sustains life in most similar games - constant endgame RAIDING. By various means, offline, online, etc. Stashes, safeshouses, backup bases etc.
In V rising so far, raiding is only possible via siege golem (yes you can also blow up wooden walls with explosives but lets be honest - wood base stage is passed withing first 2-3 hours of play by most players). And to add insult to injury - the golem on most servers is ANNOUNCED globally, so effectively only the biggest clans can raid, because any others who would attempt to do so will be counterraided by said big clan as soon as golem is announced.
Also, the insane drops from chests and destructibles, makes raiding not really viable, especially on softcore PvP servers (non-fulloot)
Ultimates overall, having to fill a bar instead of waiting 2min-3min sounds better for PvE and PvP wise.
We all know Jade is the true final boss. Actually if she teamed up with some of those Lightweavers I would probably run away on sight. Add Octavius and some silverlight riflemen for true blood tears.
You first PvE raid is going to be a horde of Archer militia with boosted fire arrows.
