is the game grindy? question from casual player
umm is this game grindy? Will I be able to have fun as someone who only plays once a week? I have a job where I work 6 days a week 12 hours a day and I want to play a videogame on my day off, thinking of playing this...

thank you so much for reading

if you play single player you can play at your own pace, ofcourse you will need to gather materials but its not that hard to do even when you play alone.

It's not really a grind, but it also depends on whether or not you are going to play solo or online. The solo PvE aspect of the game is really fun; gave me about 20 hours of gameplay, but once you get to the end there isn't much replay value aside from customizing your castle or killing bosses again. If you only play one day a week I wouldn't recommend playing online on PvP servers as the game is similar to Rust where there can be wipes, people can invade, destroy your castle and take loot from your base, however this is what adds replayability to the game and increase the grind. There's also the option of playing on PvE servers where the main focus is similar to the solo experience but online.

Okay, thank you very much for that. I was afraid it might be a "tedious" task instead of a fun game. I only have one day a week to enjoy myself, you see.

I think I am more in line with playing solo at this time, so I'll stay away from the PVP servers... thank you.

Eww a fellow weeb.

As other said, you can easy finish this game in a whole day or two in its current EA state.

You can set the game up to give you more resources and that has helped me (4, 10hr days a week with two kids, among other constant schedule changes)

it makes it a LOT less grindy when you set the resources multipliers to max (5)

You can also decrease the time it takes to craft things, which is another good option if you have limited time to play.

if you play solo, around lv60 gets really grindy, cus gear is lv. you cant progress with skills and low lv gear. Cus late game bosses hit hyper fast /hard and worst parts some comes with unlimited heal. it s not the best game for solo.i would say it is a minecraft after all

lets be honest, most people working long hours day jobs take awhile to reach end game anyway...like I don't think I've "finished" a solo game in years

Hardly end-game mobs/bosses are the reason why going to 85 is grindy.
1) Scourgestone are a pain to farm if you don't have graveyards and servants.
2) Schematics, again you are into a very grindy RNG simulator between getting gear and useless trash decorations.
3) Silverhills and Cursed Forest, both are very far from each other, a whole map far and you are going to do multiple trips to farm resources from both places.
4) Repair cost...suddenly the game is now a farm to repair simulator, because end game stuff are very costly to repair.

If you are pretty good at the game its not too grindy in the early stages. There will be some farming required if you want full merciless weapon/armor sets for the early bosses.

If you are good its kinda grindy in the middle game, you need a lot of cotton and scrolls. If your bad its a bit more grindy in the midgame because repairs start to get annoying here if you pile up deaths.

Its just flat out grindy no matter what at endgame. Grinding for silver, doing laps for high blood npcs (got to fill up your prisons and max servants), farming basically everything for expansion and end game gear, fishing for NPC upkeep, hunting for jewelry, glass/scourgestones, and don't forget schematics. Also repair costs are ballooning at this level, just exacerbating the problem.

Anyone who claims its not grindy either is whitewashing it or experiencing some degree of self delusion. Its not bad IMO as a grind. But to suggest its not grindy is just demonstrably false.

180 hrs solo play here.

Yes the game is very grindy, on its default settings.
HOWEVER! You can simply change material and resource gain, to be 5x as much, which makes the game completeable in one evening.

Its completely up to you, if you decide to mess with the server settings.
