The host HAD to add themselves to the file adminlist.txt to get access to use the admin commands, So clearly they WANT to cheat and since they are host, they are allowed to do that.
By having no one in the adminlist.txt then no one can use them. Tell your friend who is hosting to stop cheating and remove themselves from the adminlist.txt file
Ok, I'll take the bait. You are misunderstanding, and it is not low. I did ask to stop the use of console commands "to no avail" as written above. What is truly low here is using cmd to spawn items that give unfair advantages, teleport around when others have to use horses and wolf form...
Of course I'd want such a tool removed from the options entirely to avoid irresponsible use of them. I don't see anything "low" in this request. I will agree, however, that for now I should just play on my own server.
Admins in most games have a ton of power in them and usually something decent server admins will only use to fix problems and not make themselves gods and abuse it.
If this is an issue you need to find a better server where this does not happen.
The reply accusing you of taking the low road isn't wrong. Instead of talking with the host regarding a solution or changing to a responsible server you are choosing to request the commands be removed from ALL servers.
You're missing the points from the replies to your message. Everyone does not have access to admin commands. Only those ADDED by the server host. If the HOST is playing a way you do not like you have two options left.
1- Ask your friend who is hosting the server to stop providing unfair advantages
OR
2- Find a new server with responsible admins.
Sounds like you want a chill place to play and it's not unreasonable to want a fair place to live. It sucks you might have to ditch your friends but it is hurting your enjoyment of a game you paid for. I feel that, it sucks. Good luck dude.
It's THEIR server. If they want to cmd spawn stuff they're going to do it. I
I'm always for more settings. A lot of servers would likely choose to disable console for trust, I would anyway. There isn't a good way, a few basic options, it would be nice to have useful commands we could do externally. Out of game, it is also hard or impossible to make use of or abuse most ingame console commands.
It's annoying having to check logs for admin commands too.
I agree. While joining another server is the easiest solution, it doesn’t help in the long run I believe
By default, no one has admin. Initial admin, as others said, must be set via TEXT FILE on the server itself. This is absurd on its face. Even the "trust" argument is ridiculous, as there's literally nothing preventing the owner from turning it off, turning on admin, spawning some stuff in, then turning admin off again, and anyone who didn't rejoin in those couple minutes would have no clue anything happened.
Don't play on servers with settings you don't like, don't play on servers with dirty or abusive admins. Simple as.
Let me ask everyone something then - does anyone have an issue with starting a new vamp and jumping into a clan and going from gear level 10 to 50 simply by learning all of the research and using what has already been gathered?
Seems kind of silly that I can start a brand new game and give minutes later almost half of the bosses are so below me that I can stand there and take whatever they throw at me.
How is that actually different than a console command?
For example, if you ban 2 castle hearts because too much room is being taken up, you have to teleport around and check for double bases. Another example, someone is using "gamer language", as in the "n" word in local chat. People can ask for or whisper for an admin to tp on them when someone is breaking the rules right beside their base.
