PVP server are also the most populated though
That causes a percentage of the victims to leave, because if they couldn't defend themselves before they lost everything, what hope is there after losing their mats and castle.
So when they are "forced" to start over, they might as well look for a new server where they won't be too far behind and lose everything again before to people who have advanced to end game already, but that's just my gut feeling.
It seems like the servers will have to constantly do fresh starts to avoid this, unless the Devs come up with some sort of a mechanic to remove the winners from the server...
Perhaps players in the "winning clan" that are "wiping out a server" could then move onto an "advanced server(s)" that only "winning" clan players can join.
That might change the dynamic, so that the "losers" can stay on the server and continue to play without completely staring over, while the "winners" can move on, instead of the server dying off or being fresh started.
we have one going with 10 players atm, were working on setting up an economy
I switched from PvP to PvE when I saw a maxed out dude patrolling the low level areas and killing newbies without being provoked. They were just mindlessly attacking everyone they could find and then they would scatter the loot around, they did not even need the loot, then they proceeded to camp as a rat and jump/kill you again if you try to get your loot back. These types of bullies with unlimited amount of time deterred me from PvP.
You don't really "win" anything or have winners, though. Even if there was a goal beyond getting the buffs, you're just going to have people who intentionally try to stay behind.
I've said this before and I'll say it again. If you don't want players to leave the server you play on then don't be a sweaty or a bully. This is not a 800k mmo with a single server where you can bully people without consequence all day because you get shuffled through everyone. If someone else is being a bully, band together and raid them every day. You have absolutely nothing to gain from breaking into someones base of a guy who just got to copper and on top of it you lose a massive amount of resources for doing so, but people are still doing it against all logic and it's what causes people to leave for a new server. This isn't a problem with the game itself, this is a problem with the erratic player base not making logical choices. Putting a band-aid on idiotic player behavior by wiping official servers every 3 days isn't really the way to go about this. People need to be given the time to realize that they're shooting themselves into the foot if they piss people off on at max 50 player server. Regular and frequent official wipes is taking away the time for people to learn how to socialize and all you're doing is breeding more anti social apes who are primed to speedrun ghost yarn and dark silver ingots so they get more efficient in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up other servers. Attack players when they're late in the game where you can actually get stuff you need from their, because then they won't leave as fast as they're already invested in the server.
I echo this sentiment, mainly play a pve server with custom rules. Been trying to get into a pvp server but you almost always find one of these people just cutting down people way lower gear score then them just kill their boredom.
Then at that point I leave the server, delete it off my list forever and try to find another to justify the pvp replayability, because If I need to wait till that bored high gear mofo gets tired and goes to bed before I can actually attempt to make some progress then the servers community is ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Might need to join one that has scheduled wipes.
Or in the worst case scenario you have people with no jobs, other sources of income or streamers/youtubers. who can and will literally break their sleep schedules to create content.
Edit: and by gearscore i mean the people have skulls, as they are just doing their boredom patrol killing copper/iron players. personally if I can't start to reach for iron without someone going on a new player spree when all I see is a skull, I leave the server straight away. I respect my time and I'm not going to stick around in a server that has people that could go in search of a worthy opponent near their gear level, instead of copper/iron stomping out of boredom.
I mean I have all 3 they give you pretty decent buffs for nothing
Yep and if you're in a pvp server the last thing you want is lag inputs while trying to fight over some iron/silver with another player.
Think of it like D&D, thats the best thing I can compare it to. Right now, how it feels is like Old school top down rpg's (Icewind dale) but with players. Cosmetics and player interaction through conversation take a front and pvp & castle sieges sit as options, since by lore, we are at war with the humans and nearly extinct, the act of killing another vampire or destroying a castle would need to have a very serious reasoning behind it.
Currently we have some events planned. The Elder's (the admin, and therefore the ones who've been awake the longest) will be hosting people in their castle for a discussion on how to proceed in the wake of Dracula's death. Another player is hosting a garden party for everyone to mingle and develop some form of relationship be it friendly or otherwise, there is a group that is antagonistic and atm they are in a cold war with another house, each sending spys in the form of bats and rats to try and get inside each others manors.
Its a more relaxed pace, and if someone's going to siege you, you probably already know its about to happen. I enjoy it because it means I can play purposefully outside of META and develop a castle purely on appeal with out the honey comb pattern. I can have faults like being bad at transforming and always shifting into 3 things before actually getting into the form I want. Its fun and funny, and no one is there to stun lock gank you if you decide to go for a stroll in human form and admire the world itself.
