How to progress from Copper to Iron
So i need iron to get the throne. Since the game doesnt tell me where or how i get iron, i decided to look it up. The guide says i need to go to Dunley Farmlands and beat a level 37 boss, to get the recipe for the smithy. Thats fine, but im nowhere near strong enough to do that, and ive already upgraded all my gear, as much as i can.

What am i missing?

1. Kill sulfur guy (to make bombs) OR bear (smashes walls) to breach into bandit kings stronghold ( i recommend bear).
2. Kill bandit king, he is easier to deal with by keeping your distance.
3. Get any merciless copper weapon. Mace might be "a bit faster" to grind iron with, but any will do.
4. Defeat the rat (bloody annoying, harder than you might think)
5. optional to build a second base in dunley farmlands. i did and it saves me a ton of time.
6. sneak into haunted iron mine, grab as much iron as possible and fight as little as possible. you can sneak after the patrolling v boss there and let it take care of most enemies for you to make it easier if you are struggeling.
7. done!

Im on the fay queen, and i have merciless nightslayer gear and the copper mace.

normally any gear you need to match that level would only require you to have things like copper, leather, coarse thread and maybe some gems or bone dust depend on what jewelry you use.

some recipe might not be unlocked by boss killing, so you have to farm some paper to unlock some random tech in research table.

and for iron, you'd need merciless copper mace to farm iron in farmland area. bottom center part of the map, theres this area called the haunted mine. thats the best spot to farm some iron, tho might have to be careful when you enter as a high level boss patrolling the area.

recommend to use rat form to sneak in

You need to kill the Banditking (37) which is not in the Dunley Farmlands. He is in the first area (near one of the gateways) in his Bandit Fortress which you open up with bear form or dynamite.

With fully equiped merciless copper, 9er or 12er ring, merciless nightshade armor you have the level.

Any merciless weapon does the trick. It just needs to be merciless.

And as long as you dont get into the way of the 3 bosses that roam the area you can jzust work normally into the haunted mine. The enemies before and inside are not that hard expect of the fire arrow longbow ranger.

actually yeah this guy is right. mace is just to make it a bit faster at gathering the ores, but any merciless copper wep would do the trick.

attacking some of the bandit camp should give you some paper for research. check on the map about what area drop what, and check the chests located in the area as well

keep in mind this is only for the weapon. To get your next set of armor you then have to kill the tailor, farm all 4 farms for cotton (I usually get around 1500 cotton = about 75 wool yarn, build a couple looms and then you MIGHT be ready to make your armor.

You don't need merciless to get iron, just gear lvl 40 or above will do. Yes, it's easier to get it with merciless weapons, but not necessary.

Process the sulfur ore in the smelters, then make the bombs at the alchemy table.

I feel like an idiot for not realising this detail - The only Merciless Copper variant I was missing was the mace, so the thought to run in with one of the other weapons never occured to me. On the plus side I now have most paper research from RNG grinding to the Mace xD
