Caster build?
Is there any weapon ingame like a staff or something that allows you to cast spells rather than having to have a melee weapon. Would be nice to build a full mage and never have to confront an enemy up close with melee

Crossbow is your only ranged weapon option. Or the scythe is actually pretty good, as its E ability is a ranged attack, and the Q is a knockback. There's even a special scythe recipe dropped by undead commanders that has bonuses to spells.

No, crossbow wouldn't be a spell. It's just your only pure-ranged weapon offering at the moment.

crossbow has a ranged skillshot so it is kind of a caster weapon. the scythe with the +spell power is probly the only caster weapon tho. Honestly if your running the spell power jewelry and have high percent scholar blood weapon doesnt really matter.

Things that "count as spells" are those that specifically say "deals % magic damage" - that is spells and most (all?) ultimates. There is no weapon that could specifically be considered "caster weapon" as all of them deal physical damage.

General's Reaper could be viewed as one, since it gives spell damage and spell crit chance, also reaper's Tendon Swing is useful to keep enemies at bay, and the damage is delivered instantly, unlike something like Whirlwind - so it has a pretty good synergy with a mage. But it doesn't scale into endgame.

Realistically though, there's just too few ways of specialization (just the jewelry piece and the blood) to define any class. You'll be playing a hybrid no matter what you do. Even 100% scholar blood does not give you enough of spell cooldown to cast non-stop, ignoring your weapon entirely.

Well hopefully they add a few staffs and charms to help create more options
