I don't understand why there isn't a keystroke like control+Middle mouse for 1, shift+middle mouse for a box to type how many i want out at least.
Not to compare apples to oranges, but quite literally any "survival game" with mats and resources have multiple ways of splitting stacks. It's a nit pick, but a very strong one for me, nearly everything else is perfect in this game.
I can agree with this as well when you just want one or a couple of something. It was just not a problem that I faced most often. When dealing with a game with crafting times I try to mitigate it with more machines. I usually end up with 3-6 and I am used to a game like Rust.
Most of the time I just take the whole stack to craft something now a days and just shove it all back into the bookshelf next to the crafting station, but yeah if they were to add more splitting options I wouldn't mind I was just most worried about a 1/3rd split.
