I'd apparently assumed you're supposed to delete an object to recoup the materials before you put a replacement down. Wild idea, I know (@DarthTanyon), mind-blowing really.
But yea, @DarkXuin, I was doing some rearranging inside my castle and trying to convert a room w/normal floors to a forge room. Figured I could just delete a floor tile and replace it with the forge one, but it wouldn't let me delete it b/c of the connected walls/pillars. So, I had to delete the walls and pillars to get to the floors. Overwriting building objects isn't a UX I've seen in other crafting games, so didn't occur to me. I mentioned this to my buddy who's also an avid builder in these games, he says he tried the overwriting thing and it's hit-or-miss. I'll play with it and see how it goes.
