it doesn't really matter who will hold the resources you'll later turn into items or constructions. (and on pvp server you need to survive til the castle)
so you don't really have a need to fight over loot.
If just allied then you need to determine who gets what after gathering the resources.
and if you are playing in your own server, maybe try to double the resource yield or something if you want it to be that way.
you don't have to fear in this game, look at it as you are "as one", you have the same goals.
and at the rare occasion when the enemy do drop equipment, just talk it out who should or need it first. you would eventually need to craft them yourself anyway, either to make equipment for your servants or even to just have the mat to maintain and repair your gear.
just get used to share things and you both would progress faster.
for ability they need to be present during the fight tho. as for blueprints and recipes, they just need to go to the research table or study and learn what you unlock for free.
