Family Sharing
Probably ment to make it more difficult for people to crack the game and what not, but if this game is in your family sharing library it allows you to launch it but then just says "you do not own this game" and has a single button to close the game :(

Yea, I'd like to see this fixed too. We have only one computer with three accounts, one account for each of us. Usually switching is how we easily manage our preferred games

Same

It's one of the very few games that has opted out from family sharing... bad move if you ask me considering it's a multiplayer game and you can't be two players online at the same time anyway, so Family Sharing would likely lead to more sales.. instead it's just pissing off a lot of people.

Wouldn't say i'm pissed but I had planned to play my brother's copy as a pseudo demo since he's past 14 hours played, now though my choices are seamanship or not getting it so they'd be likely to lose a sale as the former is too much work with my game backlog.

Most games that dont allow family sharing don't show up in the shared library, this one does show up but doesn't allow you to play wich is odd and annoying :/

That's why i've refunded the game, and avoid piracy is a myth, they have enabled LAN Mode with the update today so it didn't require an internet connection anymore and make it crackable easily. I'll buy it when they enable family sharing (if they do).

still requires a 1 time internet connection to check if you bought the game, though I am sure the people who crack games will find a way around that sooner or later lol

Yeah, a friend and I share a library and I tried to play it today because I am interested in it and want to see if I like it. Really surprised a game like this would do that. I hope they change it. Definitely a bad move.

Not having Family Sharing in 2017 was already a bad move. Half a decade later this is definitely not acceptable. This needs to be high-priority.

I gifted the game to my sister because I figured we could family share it. Guess I'm missing out for now too. Not a huge loss.

I wanted my girlfriend to try how well her current hardware is able to run this game before potentially buying it for her, so this move has really, really backfired for them in our particular case. If we don't know how well it will run, we're not getting a second copy.

Not like we could play it together / at the same time anyway, so this is as stupid as it is unexpected.

I don't think I can name any games that allow family sharing, but can actually limit the features available while family sharing. Is this some third party account registering shenanigans?

If it's possible to delegate family sharing to single-player and private servers, it does seem like a good solution. As family sharing is mostly used to cheat and ban evade in multiplayer specifically and can't be stopped unless the anti-cheat has steam API permissions. And the anti-cheat has to not suck at detecting cheats like most anti-cheats do.

The function I am describing is a feature of dedicated servers for many steam games. Ark and others that allow for family share connections or not in the server settings. The biggest reason to not allow for family share clients to connect, is to prevent someone from being able to behave badly and to control them entering your game without purchasing it.

I'm not buying the game due to this. Was going to try it out, then most likely grab a copy to play with my son. Guess I'll pass.
