Sun-Mechanic getting old (fast)
The sun mechanic in V Rising really adds to the fantasy, and I think it is done well on itself.

However, the more I play, the more annoyed I get by it. The novelty of the mechanic has worn off, and now it just feels like it takes agency away.
That is because I feel like the things I can do are vastly limited during the day, and I cannot reasonably commit to certain actions (e.g. boss fights) when the night time is almost over.

I wish there were opportunities in mid- to late game that simply makes you immune against the sun, or that convert its effects to something else (e.g., you only become weaker instead of taking damage).
But at this point, I'd deactivate daytime altogether on my server, if it weren't for the other players on it that'd rather keep it as is ...

Any thoughts from other players in mid- to end-game?

I'm in the same boat. I'm trying to hunt down bosses and run out of night day in the middle of the fight and am forced to retreat. I've been trying to kill the Sun Priestess for 3 hours without any luck cause it takes me forever to clear an area around her to fight and then the sun comes out. I'm going to be shortening the day time hours and lengthen the cycle on my server so it's playable.

I haven't tried yet, but there are potions and clothing to resist the sun. Unsure how well the work. Also, I do a lot of travelling to and from locations during the day if I can't teleport. It is pretty easy to stick to shadows in most ares of the map. I'm not end game quite yet, so I don't know if there is an uber solution to your problem that unlocks at that time

There is an armor to do that, you get immune but you reflect the light visually, not sure if it's in the actual progression currently.

I get it.

Maybe instead of being burned by the sun, our characters could just shine reeeeally bright...
Just... head out before sundown, then camp out the short time it takes for it to hit night.

If you leave your base after night has started, you are kinda setting yourself up with less time.

But here's the thing. I don't want to camp around and idle until the game allows me to play again. My free time is a little too precious to have a ~10 minute forced break every ~20 minutes.

I often use the day to travel in the shadows and scout, then engage my enemies as soon as nighttime hits. I also find it a good time to load up my refinement stations and gather some basics like wood and stone. So far it hasn't bothered me and I can still appreciate the mechanic.

Set up your own server, alter the day-night cycle

"GameTimeModifiers": {
"DayDurationInSeconds": 1080.0,
"DayStartHour": 9,
"DayStartMinute": 0,
"DayEndHour": 17,
"DayEndMinute": 0,
"BloodMoonFrequency_Min": 10,
"BloodMoonFrequency_Max": 18,
"BloodMoonBuff": 0.2
},
change these values in the ServerGameSettings.json file

Always look for solutions, never stop at the problem :)

For those committed to official and other hosted servers, it definitely is a mechanic to learn to work around. I was glad to see that the original setting for daylight-time was shorter than what many may expect, but still disabled damage on my private server.

Before disabling damage, the early bosses were normally ok to take on during the day, as some of the stationary ones had shade somewhere close by, and the traveling bosses you could pull into the trees.

If on a private server, look into changing the config. Otherwise, I guess, either look into the potions or equipment that helps out with it. There's also the suggestion to use daylight hours to upkeep your castles/servants/refinement and farming what's easy to farm then.

In other games darkness can be remedied by a torch, but however the enemies in the dark are much more dangerous. Perhaps V Rising can do something that mimics this. While the torch takes away a weapon slot which we do not have two of in V Rising, I think what can be done is make it so there is a item that has next to no stats, but a very very high Sun resistance for a body armor. This body armor would work because it would wrap our head, and cover our body to protect us from the sun. This would have the penalty in exchange for reduced stats in a fairly important slot. All they would then need to do is make stronger and more enemies appear during the day. Perhaps the holy order could have more stronger Paladins that patrol during the day. Idk just a thought.

could do with some weather effects to block out the sun, fog, thunderstorms, torrential rain fall.

Or maybe just a giant umbrella... :lunar2019grinningpig:

Although I really love the day/night mechanics in V Rising, I would love to see weather effects (first of all) and even better if these weather changes affected the strenght of the sun, sometimes even mitigating it entirelly.

I just go shadow to shadow, it can be rough, but usually around evening in game I start invading using any shade I can to thin out ads, and then go full in when moon is up. If you think its going to be a bloodmoon look for a beneficial blood type for the fight to get the megaboost.

IDK I like it as it's just part of that "Creature of the night" lore, but I do understand your pain.

Was my original thought, but there is only one weapon slot in the game. So using it for a umbrella may be more punative then needs to be. Although I guess the umbrella could work as a weapon type with reduced damage stats and this could serve as a penalty for being out in the sun as well. With the combination of more dangerous enemies out during the day hours.
