Camera controls are unacceptable
I like the game so far, even though I just started.

I am however very disappointed with how the camera controls work. I think there should be a locked camera option or an option to use the A and D keys to turn the camera.

There is no reason in a 2022 game that a better camera system was not thought of. You should not have to turn the camera an an action based game, ever. It is a cardinal sin. Manually turning the camera is for 4x strategy games, RTS games etc.

In an action combat game you have so many other things to do and now you have to rotate the camera too. How was this overlooked?

Are you saying it would be better if they removed the option to move the camera?

Also, you need A and D for movement, so that bind wouldn't work well.

Multiplayer games that have a persistent map usually leave the camera up to the player because there is no way for the camera to know which angle is the most important for you right now. In non-multiplayer games the camera can be a planned cinematic path, even with options to move it about. There's no good way to do that for a multiplayer isometric game.

One way I can see to make it better would be to give the player control of the size of their "circle of transparency" allowing you to see better in all directions negating the need to turn. UO did that and it worked pretty well.

I agree that there should be an option to rotate camera with keybinds.

Sometimes I find myself putting the cursor directly in the middle of the screen just above my character and holding right mouse down the entire time I fight so the camera turns with me and my attacks are directly in front of me but that is not great either.

If I could rotate the camera and aim and attack at the same time it would be better.

I think Q and E should be used for strife.

I honestly think it would be a great addition to add in an option for camera-lock, and to be able to bind camera rotation keys, but I've enjoyed it the way it is so far.

This must be your first isometric game.

I could see what you are going for with strafe being Q and E but I feel like when the action gets heavy I would constantly be hitting both or the wrong one.

If I HAD to have it bound somewhere I'd prob go for mouse thumb buttons or something.

The bigger problem with bound cam rotation on isometric games is that you lose all variable speed and even if you have a slider to set at what you want, I don't think the same rotation speed would be good for all circumstances. I think in practice one would find it lacking the dexterity you'd want.

It would be just better to keep the mouse "arrows" visible when turning. It makes aiming so hard when you dont have the cursor in front of your character, when you are mooving the camera.

I mean the controls are better than most games. Rotating the camera is so much better than fixed angle view. It is literally a non issue and gives way better control than any autotargeting system and adds some skill based combat to what would otherwise just be cooldown management and spam. I completely disagree with your statement and more games should have a system like this.

I love the controls and camera of this game, except for one fact, the camera sensitivity is a bit too slow and i've found no option to increase it

How dare I be inconvenienced in the <current year>, there is absolutely no reason for me to deal with things I don't like. Recognize my plight and fix it.

It's so blatantly clear when somebody hasn't played an isometric before.

All it needs is extra sensitivity and an FOV slider, that's about it. Hell, if you've played an MMO before, you're already used to camera turning anyhow.

It seems really easy and intuitive. You right click and move it. Not sure how much simpler you can get...

Other than the ridiculous non-solution of not being able to move the camera which would be a complete disaster, is there a better way to handle this? Perhaps there is, but this is the tried and proven way that works in almost all such games...
