You can fit it in a 4x4space and surround it with walls or plant pinecones to provide shade if you're worried about shade.
yes i think you should be able to
by using enough space remove floor tiles and surround the waygate with door framed walls only
i think you dont need actualy doors in them but if you want to you could
since door frames count as room guidance it should work.
it should work this way... wich means only the waygate area has no roof but if surrounded by door frames everything else will have a roof.
So no roof possible for a in-castle waygate.
