About bosses when Playing Solo...
At first I wasn't on board with the people who thought the bosses needed to be nerfed for solo play. Then I got past level 40 and.... am starting to see the problem.

Simply put, all these bosses do way to much damage for the "normal" difficulty. It kinda lessens enjoyment when I have to change all my skills and what weapon i'm using for every boss just to stand a chance of beating them. Only to have all that ruined because a pack of 8 extra enemies decides to walk in the general area of where I'm fighting. (Especially with Christine and the fact that she'll run to them to "heal" them when really it just pulls them into the fight)

When I did the Feral Bear I thought maybe it was just a one off, it's a bear right? Of course it'll hit hard. Then I got to Vincent.... and it was the same despite him looking more tanky.... then I did Christine and it was even worse... and now with Tristan.... its just getting stupid. Especially with the lingering fire aoes. I'm even above his gear level and the damage is STILL too much.

And yes, I know you can change how hard they hit in the settings and even if you've started a server you can adjust that by going to the game files. But that shouldn't really be necessary for normal difficulty should it? Or maybe Normal is geared towards multiplayer idk.

And sure there is the good ol' "Don't get hit" strategy. I've tried that. But when aoe's track you... and enemies can move as fast as they do. You either need to have god like reaction times or insane luck.

I love every part of this game... but then I actually have to fight the bosses and just... get my enjoyment sucked (ha ha) out of it all because I die repeatedly to damage there is no way back from. Because while you can get some distance to mend... your max health gets depleted very quickly and you can't restore that in combat.

idk Maybe there is something I'm just not getting. But when I'm dying 5-10 times on bosses that in principle would be simple if only they didn't hit so hard when the player has so few healing options (and the ones they do have are very bad... like healing 7 health when the boss hits for 40)

So yeah... my 2 cents, on servers marked as solo (i.e max 1 player) bosses should have their damage reduced without us having to make that call before even starting the game. (Or at least let us change difficult settings while playing...) Doesn't have to be extreme, but even a 25% reduction would probably go a long way.

I guess this is more just a rant into the void topic? I know I've seen a few people thinking solo play needs nerfing but I see just as many people seeming to think its easy. In which case, all you people who play solo who think all the bosses are easy, how do you handle it? Do you just overgear to hell and back? Or is there something i'm not getting?

You already have settings to change their stuff in your single player or personal server. Everything else is based around online group play.

Ive killed all but the last 6ish bosses solo so far with standard server settings. The biggest hurtle now is just research for gear upgrades. Ive found the best blood buff is a high lvl rogue. I have a 100% in prison. This allows you to be pretty mobile during fights, even better if in a bloodmoon. My weapon of choice currently is the scythe. It has a nice weapon skill that places a spinning aoe at range, so I tend to kite the bosses while placing the aoe and hitting /blocking with the spells. I find the healing potions fairly useless in boss fights as your total available health goes down as you take dmg, so you never heal much. So dont get hit.
Rogue has been my go to as well, the critical and armour rendering really cut down on the fight length
When it comes to weapons I prefer the sword thanks to the teleport slash it has, if timed right you can dodge a bosses skill with it, Scythe is better for dealing with larger groups or buffing spells with the one you get from the Commander's orb.
Yeah I dont buy your 2 cents. Quite frankly the game is challenging sure, but it is double solo.

I just solo'd Leandra the Shadow Priestess, that was a difficult fight too. I was 48 GS.

Find your weapon, get the right abilities, and don't get attacked.
OP I presume is just face tankign bosses and cant be bothered to learn boss attack patterns. No issue with any boss solo up to my current gear score of 70.

You are using weapons wrong or facetanking and going full unga bunga, only thing I can guess.

Leandra and Thera were honestly the EASIEST bosses past 30 lol. Leandra just use the scythe and switch to the mantis blades to invis when she makes it dark. And Thera is just a game of patience. None of her attacks are fast or hard to move out of.
Eh, I managed to beat all the bosses solo and I'm hardly great at the game. Some took several attempts. The one that took the most attempts was the max level behemoth thing, proably took me 8-10 tries: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2811658570

Final boss was relatively easy once I had the holy resist, only took three attempts, though I only had 1 health left once he went down: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2811658542

No other bosses were troublesome enough to be worthy of a screenshot. The max level chimera boss didn't even take two attempts.

This with everything at baseline combat settings.

I didn't think of the stealth ability, I just learned to hit the shadow buggers before they hit me.
My main gripe with the game is with the gear progression.

I'm not sure about the rest of the game, but if it just keeps being the same as it is for the best workshop items, I don't like it, ie. every gear piece is just a direct upgrade over the last

If you ask me, gear progression should branch into different playstyles.
Say you want to cast powerful magics - then you craft gear with spellpower
You want a more direct and personal approach - get gear which buffs your attack power

I know the game is in EA but this needs to be addressed now, a lot of spells scale from your spell power, there's no physical spells as far as I can see, only weapon skills seem to scale from that.

Right now you're stuck playing some hybridsh builds, which is fine by all means, but this can be changed into something better, especially if you plan on playing the game with other people.

Its EA they will likely add more. Terraria also is a straight progression until the hardmode stuff.

I agree. Right now, only the ring/neck slot offers any kind of customization at all.

Who was your hardest boss so far? Mine was probably Frostmaw, mainly cuase I kept retreating too far during his blizzard ability the first 2 times.

Since you can swap out weapons at the press of a button to match a situation, I don't mind the way they progress and I prefer the necklaces being a one stop shop for focusing your build. I alternate sword and scythe with a ruby necklace and rogue or brute blood to finish it off.
There's a lot of depth if you really get down to the finer points of it. Hell, I'm sure you could even PVP with the worker blood and that riding buff potion and streak in and out of combat on your horse if you wanted to haha, even circle with the crossbow if you really wanted to ♥♥♥♥♥ out.

Fromstmaw sounds dangerous, I'm barely 38 gearscore, and the hardest boss for me so far was that granny, mainly because It aggroed every mob on the map, and I had to retreat tide my wounds facing respawning enemies left and right, took me around an hour to finish it.

If I remember correctly, the trick to granny was getting in front of her so she turns around back into the direction you've already cleared, that was a thing right??
I'm about to hop on and try taking on Shelob, I've heard she's a ♥♥♥♥♥ so I'm looking forward to going in blind.
