Lost ALL Progress

Despite this not being a perfect game I was INSANELY enjoying it. After a few hours of playing, the server I was in suddenly disconnected and kicked me out. When I tried to log back in it couldn't be found. When pressing on a new server it starts you with a brand new character. So basically I lost everything. Am I missing something here???? I refunded the game and I'm upset but maybe someone can give me some clarity on this?

Did you play on a private server or an official?
The private servers can be turned off by the whims of the owner. Stick to the official if you want more stable servers, or even better, if you prefer to play solo then stick to your own private one.
(And sorry for your loss. I hate when ♥♥♥♥ like that happens)

It's a game that uses a server browser with player hosted and officially hosted servers, like Counter Strike, Rust, etc. According to your VoD you've joined a player hosted server and the admin can do whatever he wants with that. Just like you can't join a CS server, buy an AK and swap servers and still have your AK.

WTF? BS. If this is due to it being a private server and it being wiped, then the developers have a responsibly to ensure players KNOW it is a private server and their character and progress can be lost at any moment. Otherwise they are going to get a world of sh.i.t from the community and it will turn away players. I purchased the game on the 1st June - Racked up 50.5 hours. Progressed quite far. I just went to the server and wants me to create a new character. FFS people.

You mean like... the big blue swirly logo in the server name that denotes a server is indeed official?

And where was this made obvious what it meant? Or that there was a difference, to the extent that you could loose all your progress on a whim? I think not.

You are just not that smart and not paying attention to the blue stunlock logo that says wether or not it is a official server. lols its on you nublet

This game is cool. My only complaint is you can't keep your character from one server to another. This is where a game like Valheim is superior. Also a large list of random maps, 3D view, far more fun to build structures, just a few things.

Yeah, and you couldn't beta test your way out of a paper bag. lol 8-). Maybe they should put on a warning about unofficial servers for the so called noobs.

Being ignorant isn't the fault of the developers. The onus is on you to seek out these things.

It's like blaming the developers because you don't know how to update your GPU driver. Learn some self accountability before blaming the developers for something you decided to do on your own.

Also, the only players it will turn away will be people like you. Perhaps this is a good thing. Less complaining and less headaches. Stunlock could afford to not earn a million or two, out of the tens of millions they can already make. ;)

@OP you can start a private (i.e. Offline) game with all research and max level (or whatever level) gear you were at and continue from there.

It’s never on the player, the consumer to do research to figure out how a game operates. To say that is dishonest & silly. It’s on the game developers to properly show how a game operates. That’s why triple A games provide a soother UI than indy fare like this. That’s why the have better save systems in place. That’s why they clearly show you, the player the save icon in operation. V Rising is a clunky, badly executed experience in some areas and that will cost the game over time. Even now, it has fallen off the radar. It’s probably because of things like people loosing progress due to a save system that doesn’t work properly.

I play on my own private server (no other players) after last update all my progress is gone. How to fix this. just simply moving files from one folder to the other doesn't give my progress back only the settings

Characters and worlds are linked in V Rising, similar to Minecraft. Creating a new world also requires a new character and vice-versa. You joined a community server, someone is hosting the server, if this someone stop to host the server, you don't have access to the server anymore.

If you are playing solo I highly recommend you to play Single-Player instead of join someone's server, that way you won't lose your character.

It's a major update that changes pretty much everything in the game, usually those updates requires creating a new save because old saves aren't compatible. What you can do to play the old version is to downgrade the game (properties > beta > version) but you also lose everything new that the developers implemented in the new version of the game.
