Insanely high gpu temps even on lowest of graphics
My RTX 2060 would only take about 5 minutes of playtime for the temps to skyrocket from ~45ºC to ~85ºC even on the lowest graphics setting and with FPS capped to 60 FPS (through nvidia control panel, because it can go higher otherwise).

Which is insane considering the game doesn't even look that graphically demanding. Elden Ring in comparison is much more graphically impressive and would only make my GPU hover around 70~75ºC while rendering much more on a scene, and that's despite people having complained about Elden Ring being poorly optimized on PC.

I have already refunded the game and will wait to test on a future release to check if the optimization is still this atrocious or if improvements have been made by then before buying again. But I'm curious about how many people are experience similar issues.

I just started and it seemed alright at first but slowly increased in temperature until it got to 60ºC+ (when I closed the game because my GPU rarely hits that) which is curious because, like you said, the game doesn't look like it should be causing anything close to that. I know my temps aren't bad but I don't want my computer heating my room up when it's already 20ºC+ outside.

I'm in a similar boat. I like this game so far but the temperatures go a bit too high for my liking. Something that could make a difference might be starting on a server, hosted by someone else, as your CPU might not have to carry the weight of the (ingame) world. But I don't know if it would fix the weirdly high gpu temperatures. I also noticed that the temperatures adjusted a bit and the hard stutters became less and less the more I played, which I assume was an issue with shaders being build during gameplay and put into the shader cache. I think the day-night cycle also uses a few ressources. I still don't quite like how demanding the game is in comparison to titles that should be more demanding.

In any case though, this might actually be a problem with Unity and it being a hard engine to optimize but that doesn't mean it can't be done and I hope the devs are aware of the situation.

Optimization is important and I hope we will get some eventually.

I have a 3070 and obviously, a stable 60fps isn't an issue. But running the game at 60fps in a 1080p set-up should simply not produce these high temperatures.

If someone found a weird solution, like how turning off volumetric lighting in other games just solves all kinds of problems, I would be happy to hear it. I have done what I could think of on my end and temperatures are still kind of high.

I have a 1070. It makes the fans on my gpu quite loud. I had no problems with performance or crashes thus far on high, though.

Hopefully. I might try the game again when it's further in development as optimisation probably isn't the highest of priority right now.

Same problem here, a medium temp of 65-75 a max of 80. If i put a hand on the case it's quite Hot. No Problem with other games such Red Dead Redemption 2, or even Cyberpunk...

what about fixing your cooling?
max temp for the card is 88 c° so i don´t see an issue here.
and if for whatever reason that card would reach that it would start downclocking

what are you even talking about 60+ for a gpu is pretty chill

Same here. For some reason this game is taxing on the GPU. 2080TI. I just updated restarted computer as well and same.

Memory leakes. I havent had any issues on my 3070. But the game does warn you that they have some stability issues that may require frequent restarts to flush the mem.

Indie games bro ... same with wartales etc etc etc ...
just undervolt your gpu or lower fps via rivatuner
Falaris May 23, 2022 @ 4:38am
Vsync is your friend. Many games will not limit FPS unless you ask it to. Because of the 'OMG THE GAME IS LIMITED TO 250 FPS, DO THEY THINK I WANT TO WATCH A SLIDESHOW RUN BY PARAPLEGICS!?!?!?' crowd.

I didn't say it was a problem for the card. It just heats up my room and makes it really uncomfortable after about 20-30 minutes.
Sigvuld May 23, 2022 @ 7:26am
Vsync could possibly be the issue - tends to be mine with high heat on games that don't appear intensive! Not limiting the FPS means the game won't be merciful to your GPU.

(Could just be optimization too, but vsync was my solution with high heat)

If this is indeed the case i will NOT be buying this game till it's fixed. No way i am risking my gpu over this...
DarkDvr May 23, 2022 @ 7:31am
Also seeing very elevated GPU temps and overall poor optimization and CPU/GPU resources wasted on rather simple graphics, really.
Workaround for now was to manually lower the power limit on the GPU and lock the game to 60 fps.

It's EA, I know, but still - optimization is curretly hot garbage, and they need to work on it before it's released.

You have the Steam refund window to test it. Watch your temp as you go, and if it gets too high for your liking WITH VSYNC TURNED ON AND SETTINGS TURNED DOWN, then refund! You'll have two whole hours of play to stress-test.
