We’re getting even more fixes in before the weekend so that you may indulge your blood lust as bug-free as possible in all of your rich upcoming free time.

The following changes will be applied.

• Fixed more skinning issues on a few armor sets.
  
• Fixed mesh clipping on the Undead General Helmet.
  
• Fixed a potential server crash issue related to pathing.
  
• Corrected an issue where Cassius’ sword could get stuck under ground, making the boss unkillable.
  
• Added some missing collisions in a place where the player could jump into the abyss. So if you want to jump into the abyss, you’re going to have to try a little harder.
  
• Fixed an issue on gamepad where the player could accidentally purchase an item from a vendor if not releasing the interact key quickly enough.
  
• Fixed an issue where the stems of Cypress Saplings were showing incorrectly on upper floors.
  
• Fixed an issue where the physics on Domina’s whip could get stuck in an incorrect state.
  
• Minor fixes to make health restoration after duels and arena contests work consistently.
  
• Fixed a typo in the Frost Bat spell description.
  
• Fixed gamepad autoscroll not working in Servant Mission list.
  
• Fixed servant perks layout order not being consistent with other missions.
  
• Fixed an issue where players could gain health by spamming the Arena Start/Cancel Contest button.
  
• Fixed an issue where the Dark Enchantment passive triggered when restoring a lower health state after a contest.
  
• Fixed an issue with the highlight displays in the player inventory with “Pristine Leather Bag” and “Bat Leather Bag”, where it would identify an incorrect number of slots in some instances. Newly made bags should function properly, but older bags will still have the visual bug. Rest assured that this is a visual bug only, and your older bags are still giving you all of that precious space.
  
• Quite a few more optimizations!

We’re adding a new patch today with a wide variety of fixes to address your most urgent needs! Additionally, we’re continuing to optimize the game so it can run more smoothly.

The following changes will be applied.

• Fixed an issue where Vampire mounts could no longer be mounted. Please note that if your horse is currently bugged in this way, for the fix to take effect, you will have to resummon your horse. After it has been resummoned, it should not break again.
  
• Fixed an issue where prisoners summoned to your base through a “Dusk Caller” over a long distance could get stuck in transit, and may never arrive, also causing players to be trapped in a “dominated subject” state. If you are still stuck in this state, you will have to use the “Release Target” ability to escape it. Unfortunately, this will kill the prisoner, but rest assured, there are still plenty of creatures to bend to your eternal will.
  
• Fixed some skinning issues on several armor sets.
  
• Fixed an issue where the names of some of the Gloomrot music box tracks were mixed up.
  
• Fix for Wisteria Wall Growths that could sometimes clip through upper flooring.
  
• Fixed an issue where blood pool blood infusions could not be shown on gamepad.
  
• Fixed an issue where sometimes blood mixer blood quality would show incorrect values.
  
• Fixed a typo in the “Stone Dust” tooltip where it referenced the “Smelter” instead of the “Furnace”.
  
• Claw Skewering leap ability has been tweaked to make it hit more reliably if the server is lagging.
  
• Added placement restriction where stairs cannot be placed on top of gravel pathing. This could create a situation where the stairs became unable to be deleted, due to its connection to the gravel pathing.
  
• Fixed an issue where disconnected players could sometimes die from the sun within their castles.
  
• Various optimizations were also added!

• Fixed an issue with getting stuck in permanent repair state when double-clicking a model.
  
• Fixed an issue where feeding a prisoner fish while at 100% blood quality would unlock the “Perfect Test Subject” achievement.
  
• Fixed an error that was resetting resolution settings.
  
• Fixed some scrolling not working in forge menus.
  
• Fixed an issue where Gaius the Cursed Champion could go back to resting state while his fight is still active, making him temporarily unavailable.

• Fixed an issue where Lucile the Venom Alchemist would throw a potion so hard that it would break Adam the Firstborn forever.
  
• Fixed an issue that was causing server crashes.
  
• Fixed an issue where Gaius the Cursed Champion could get stuck when resetting aggro.
  
• Fixed an error with loading saves while Beatrice the Tailor was in her… “angry mood”.

Hello Vampires!

Time for the first full Hot Fix of the patch! This one will be a server-side patch, and you may experience a slight interruption in play on Official Servers as they restart to apply the patch. It will let you know when it’s in the process of shutting down so you have time to get to safety! It should only take a few minutes to apply the patch, so please be patient.

The following changes will be applied.

• Fixed prisons getting stuck with the wrong inventory state.
  
• Fixed an issue where Jewelcrafting stations could be dismantled while crafting.
  
• Fixed an issue where an arena was allowed to set up multiple contests at the same time, which could cause some odd interactions.
  
• Fixed an issue with admin commands where GiveCombatPreset could put a user in a progression locked state.
  
• Mortium Rift Incursion Interval setting now has its values restricted only to valid value options.
  
• Fixed an issue where DLC was not properly connecting to Steam authentication, causing DLC items to be inconsistently unavailable.
  
• Fixed an issue in server host settings where values for maximum connected users and maximum connected admins could be set to negative numbers, or numbers above the 128 hard cap.

With April 28 and the release of patch 1.1, Invaders of Oakveil fast approaching, we thought this might be the perfect time to learn a little bit more about the story of Megara the Serpent Queen, the Venom Blades, and the forest they have sunk their fangs into, the Oakveil Woodlands. So, for those of you looking to know your enemy, this is the perfect opportunity to learn a little bit more about Vardoran’s newest threat!



To the north of Silverlight and West of Gloomrot: Oakveil Woodlands


Far to the northwest of a continent in the constant throes of conflict, an idyllic woodland sits for centuries, undisturbed. The conflict between the Trancendum in Gloomrot and the Church of Luminance in Silverlight Hills would rarely, if ever, see the need to intrude on these verdant territories.


A path to somewhere beautiful.


Oakveil has long since been a place gripped by pristine and unbothered nature, with one exception: the Great War. Dracula’s thirst for power spread across the continent, and even here the land felt his greedy claws sink into its soil. Centuries have passed since then. Moss and roots have reclaimed the battle-scarred reaches, claiming blade, armor, and bones in the name of tranquility. A peaceful bastion, the half-forgotten memories of the conflict are remembered only in the crumbling ruins of Vampire castles, now home to discreet wildlife.

A rare haven, spared from the creeping horrors that plague every other inch of Vardoran, the struggling inhabitants of other lands have been content to leave this edge of the known world slumber.


Oakveil Woodlands.


As it was meant to be.


Harmonious and eternal.








… it was small, remote, and of little significance. To the world, they held no power, no wealth, and no reason to be remembered. A coastal jewel, polished and precious, they lived their days in a simple and practiced cadence. It is a cold truth that a fated day can begin like any other.

So it was on that day.





From the mist, the great witch Megara emerged, her origins unknown, her presence an omen. The villagers, wary but fearless, quickly rallied for battle. Megara answered their display with one of her own, one she knew they would understand. Drawing on unspeakable black magic, she performed a display of power so overwhelming that it crushed all hope of resistance, driving even the most stout-hearted champion to their knees.

To them, she spoke:


The alternative, of course, required no explanation.

Those who obeyed became the first Venom Blades, worthy of receiving the dark magical secrets of Venom Sap so that they may further empower the witch queen. With her new minions, she began her march across the world, laying waste to every land she touched. Every verdant landscape she reduced to shriveled ruin fed her strength, and with every conquest her great shadow grew longer, and her reach further.


A venomous touch.


Megara the Serpent Queen is ruin incarnate, ravaging everything in her path and feasting upon the natural life to satiate her hunger for power. A hunger that cannot be quelled, and a thirst that cannot be quenched. With every act of devastation, her desire only swells.


All hail the Serpent Queen.



Though they began as little more than a handful of villagers, the Venom Blades have traveled far and wide, and consumed, integrated, and absorbed bits and pieces of the many cultures they’ve devastated. With each conquest comes a new legion of warriors willing to bow, scrape, and fight for their continued existence.

Megara welcomes them all who will dedicate themselves to her wholly, folding them into the ever-growing ranks of her army.


United in savagery.


Soon, they all learn the most sacred edict of the Venom Blades:

Serve at the pleasure of the Serpent Queen.

As long as it serves Megara’s purpose, no treachery is forbidden. Infighting and cruelty are not merely tolerated but encouraged as instruments of her will. This ordained chaos, coupled with their reckless lust for battle, brings staggering losses. Yet to the Serpent Queen, such attrition is not simply accepted; it is invited. The unworthy are cast aside, and there are always more realms to conquer, more shattered souls to mold into faithful supplicants.

The Venom Blades sail from shore to shore, arriving with massive ships, which they tear apart on land to raise temporary camps, structures, and strongholds. When the land lies broken behind them, what remains is more than enough to forge new vessels and move on to their next raid.

They do not look back. They do not stop until the work of ruin is done.

Foremost among their duties is the ritual harvesting of Venom Sap, a magical resource drawn only through the corruption and ruthless bleeding of infected trees. The process is virulent, seeping into nearby plant and animal life like a sickness. The Venom Blades do not mind. In truth, they prefer it. Their purpose is not preservation, but absolute destruction.

This is only the beginning.


Once the ritual is complete and the trees are fully corrupted, swollen with Venom Sap, they are felled, collected, and drained dry. This grisly process is overseen by Stavros the Carver, a fanatical servant of the Serpent Queen and an unquestionably murderous psychopath. Few among the Venom Blades dare to consume Venom Sap directly, let alone wield it in its raw, volatile form. Stavros is no ordinary zealot, though bold may not be the correct word for what he is.

Harvest it all.


From there, it is sent to be refined and mixed with other materials in techniques pioneered by some of Megara’s most faithful followers. Among these brilliant minds is Lucile the Venom Alchemist, who mixes traditional alchemical techniques from her home with the incredible, chaotic nature of Venom Sap to make never-before-seen concoctions.

She claims to gain divine inspiration from her queen, but that may just be the chemical fumes at work.

Similarly, the obsessive weapons master Dantos the Forgebinder combines his knowledge of metalwork with Megara’s dark magical techniques to shape enchanted metals. In a masterful fusion of destruction and creation, he has discovered a way to carve through magically imbued items, melting them down, unraveling their enchantments, and reforging them into weapons of his own wicked design.

The majority of Venom Sap, however, is brought directly to Megara herself. Within a sanctum of her own making, the Serpent Queen conducts an unending ritual, bathing in the raw power, drawing it into her body with a hunger that knows no end.


Don’t get too close.


As long as the Venom Blades fulfill their purpose and do not disappoint her, they are permitted to live. And now, they do so gladly. So long have they been under her sway that most do not remember a life before. Theirs is the path of bloodthirsty raiders, harbingers of ruin, fanatics forged in venom and flame, bound to a singular, sacred purpose:
Serve the Serpent Queen in life, or serve her in death.
