I feel the need to respond to these replies that are passively dissing a game from a different developer... Forager won't be getting multiplayer. They tried, it didn't work. There were some news posts on various platforms about it. They even had an alpha/beta (not sure which one it was) test for some dedicated players...
I'm gonna copy/paste part of what I posted in a different thread..
Multiplayer is something that needs to be planned for before even making a game. Forager was not such a game, so in order for them to have added multiplayer they would have had to recode the entire game. They decided it wasn't worth spending so much time on it, when they could just make a whole new game with multiplayer planned for in the beginning (maybe Forager 2?).
As for the OP... This game in particular doesn't seem to have multiplayer planned... but who knows. Personally, I don't see a reason for it to have multiplayer after playing the demo. Unless there's some endless section unlocked after a tutorial story thing.
Just to make sure it's clear, this game is developed by someone else. HopFrog is the publisher this time. The developer is in the credits for Forager under the illustration department, I believe... The Forager dev might be contributing, sure, but that's not his name on the store page.
As for the above rants about a different game, y'all need to chill. Sometimes game development gets messy. It's a rocky road. Even AAA companies have been bringing out buggy messes that have been abandoned on the side of the road. You gotta move on and look to what else is out there.
This looks to be a promising little game and if you enjoy it and are wondering if multiplayer is coming, then that's a good question. Wondering whilst ranting on how X game promised but didn't do it is just causing unnecessary toxicity in a world that's already pretty rough.
Take care of yourselves, smile a little. We don't live long enough on this earth to waste our time causing arguments online about a little guy being only one guy instead of 2-4. I never played Forager myself, I can understand you guys being upset, but it wasn't the first game that didn't deliver, and it won't be the last. But from my understanding, a lot of people still like the game.
Not to repeat myself again, just, take a step back, and look at the game first before ripping into it "BUT FORAGER" because at the end of the day, that's a different game with a different developer.
Whoa kid, slow down.
How dare you suggest a two man team that P R O M I S E D multiplayer isn't AT LEAST SIX TIMES AS EVIL as EA.
I mean, christ, come on
He P R O M I S E D multiplayer
That's gotta mean something
It doesn't matter that it didn't work
Or that it was buggy
Or that he promised refunds if you only bought Forager for Multiplayer
Multiplayer was P R O M I S E D and he damn well better deliver it
Even if it deletes saves, causes false positive AV hits and deletes sys32
What's the world coming to if a man can break promises because the end result of attempting to add something to the game was a buggy mess
