Joking aside, this girl is clad in more armor than most females in games. It's a decent balance of sex appeal and practicality. Though that shoulder spike is a bit ridiculous, they should chance it into a standard dome style double layered pauldron. The chest piece is a bit to similar to dragon age 2's. I would recommend removing the top half that sticks out and make it more uniform. Other than that it looks fine to me. Just needs higher resolution textures than what was shown in the trailer.
Hey The Last Spirit, I suppose I should clarify that I just prefer characters, regardless of gender or race, to have somewhat realistic armor. Not saying it needs to be hardcore realism but something believable that a warrior would go into battle with. I always thought characters with mismatched armor looked a bit silly; As if it was just put there for aesthetic purposes only. Not saying the main character in this game is wearing the worst armor ever conceived as it's almost to that believable point. Not to mention the high heels. I don't know why people think fighting in high heels on uneven terrain is a viable option or even just wearing them to fight general. Combat boots would be ideal.
I hope that kinda clears some stuff up in terms of my desire to see a believable set of armor that is practical and functional.
As a bonus, I did get Nier Automata. I really wanted it to be the next Metal Gear Revengeance but I wasn't too happy with the gameplay or story. To be fair the gameplay was ok but the story was mediocre at best. Perhaps it just wasn't my kinda game.

I totally get where you're coming from. DMC is probably a prime example of that. Those guys are just wearing cool guy clothes. I just don't think the character couldn't have 'believable' (not hardcore realism) armor just because it's a 'Dark Fantasy'. All the more reason to be armed to the teeth as one rips through hordes of demons.
Don't get me wrong, I truly love this character design in terms of personality and appearance but I think she could do with functional 'believable' armor and still have sex appeal.

And I do think the (lack of) leg armour is a bit silly, I just can't imagine someone choosing to wear that.

Some sets are better than others for sure.
I'm not advocating for hardcore realism as I stated in my quote. I'd just like to see believable armor. Something a warrior would wear into battle.
At the end of the day, yes. This is a video game and I get that. I also mentioned in this thread that DMC just has a bunch of cool guys wearing cool clothes as they fight demons but in DMC's case, they didn't try for armor and established that it's not necessary.
In Soulstice's case, they opted for the character to have armor. The protags armor isn't a horrible design but the developers also showed us a male character wearing what I'd assume is the uniform standard of armor but his looks great because he's actually armored up which makes it 'believable'. The main protag on the other hand has the classic hybrid Swimsuit edition armor with high heels. The protags armor design isn't 'believable' for a warrior who's pitted against monstrous demons.
Once again, yes. This is a video game and personally as well as realistically, the character model isn't going to change. The Character is going to look the way they look and even though it's not believable, I'll still buy the game because it looks fun.

I totally get where your coming from with the bandaged area on her leg being the result of a previous hard fought battle(s) and perhaps that armor was torn away, mangled to a useless state but the pants underneath are cut pretty darn close to her crotch and suspiciously tailored perfectly. It's miles from the actual wound itself. I know that's an aesthetic choice from the devs but I just find it odd that the fabric of her pants is cut in such a way that it barely hides her crotch. The fabric could've extended to the strap that loops around that same leg.
Don't get me wrong this is a minor nitpick, it just seems like the devs went out of there way to cut the fabric right on her crotch with a perfect seam VS the Fabric being shredded a bit to coincide with the idea that she took a nasty hit to her leg.
If she really is just trudging forward and going from battle to battle it wouldn't make sense that the fabric would be perfectly stitched to make an unfrayed seam right on her crotch. It looks a bit silly when you zoom in on it. Never mind the battle heels which I think ar egregious for a warrior that fights on uneven terrain and is assumed to travel on foot for long distances. The male character has practical/believable combat boots and if this is a standard uniform, I don't know why the organization that trained these troops would opt for combat boots for Males and battle heels for Females. It's like the organization just wants the Females to be at an astronomical disadvantage.
Like I said, this stuff is all minor in the grand scheme of things. I still like the core concept the game has and will wait for reviews before buying it. I firmly believe that nothing will change with the character model. The armor is probably purely aesthetic anyway with no real change to stats. I could be wrong on that though.

I hope i didn't come off white knighty because I genuinely just like to see practical/believable implementations of things regardless if it's a Male character or a Female character.
To go one step further, you aren't even considering the characterisation here in your quest for "believability", since Briar is a character infused with some monstrous strengthening power and even from what we see in the demo she's evidently not the fastidious sort. That Briar wears the same suit of armour differently to the male character shown in the trailer who presumably has a more rigid personality isn't just expected, it's desired to reinforce their different personalities and statuses, which is something that would be lost by making everyone dress the same regardless of character, just for the sake of some sense of practicality in an inherently fantastical story.
The way you conveniently look past the entire setting and presentation of the game being inherently unrealistic and complain "oh, this lady's thigh is exposed, how absurd that is, what folly it would be to go to battle in such armour!" reveals your biases and is quite frankly rather obnoxious.
Incidentally, you know who else is a protagonist of a dark fantasy work who fights deadly monsters on a regular basis yet has a conspicuous lack of armour on their wound-covered limbs?

Yeah, exactly. This is not a trait exclusive to female characters, though one may take issue with which areas are not covered. Of course it's revealing that no one seems to be complaining about the impracticality of neither Briar nor the male character wearing a helmet to protect their heads from the deadly monsters. But I suppose that practicality is something we're allowed to handwave in service of presentation, hm?
