If you could do that already then I'm not sure if I managed to trigger that, what did you need to do?
I might have missunderstood the decsription.

That's immediately what I thought. They definitely pulled a little bit form Claymore.

Claymore was such an interesting anime.
Somulo Sep 19, 2022 @ 10:47am
man are you serious its basically a game adaptation of claymore

and ofc developers inspired by "organization" and Claymore manga and anime both to create this game

plus manga owner not gonna sue them for anything

This. The armor 100% looks like berserk and so does the sword. Its basically female guts lol.

It was a game I bought in memory of claymore, just a collection...

Berserk and Claymore have more than a few similarities, and I think this game clearly takes inspiration from both. Personally, Briar reminds me much more of Claire than Guts, and not just because she's a woman. I am a slightly bigger fan of Claymore than Berserk though, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

Looking at gameplay videos and just, general design of the character, it's clearly heavily inspired by Berserk, not claymore. Even the ability (which gives her razor teeth) is called 'berserk mode'. If it was inspired by Claymore, the "beserk mode" would've been called Awakening (Just as common if not more so, than 'berserk mode' in games), and she'd physically morph more, rather than essentially aura + razor teeth (Berserk).

Character and story may, or may not be inspired elsewhere (such as claymore), that I can't speak for. But character design was undoubtedly Berserk. It's very likely similarities are as you say, personal bias as Claymore was heavily inspired by Berserk (as most fantasy mangas & animes are).

It's not called "berserk mode" though, it's called rapture state (correction, there is a berserk state as well) and both the sharp teeth and slit eyes are the same as Claymores drawing on their yoma power. Not to mention the whole "transcendence" concept is almost exactly the same as awakening in Claymore.

Briar's armor is very similar to Guts' though, but her personality reminds me more of Claire. Again, it's pretty clearly inspired by both.

Fair point, forgot about Yoma power, been a few years since I read claymore. The only way to know is obviously for the devs to chime in and say wether or not they were inspired by Claymore, Berserk, or both, so we can only speculate.

As for transcendence, I'll have to disagree. Based on reading summaries of the story, soulstice has far more similarities to Berserk, than that of Claymore when it comes to this.

Guts armor when used will slowly consume his mind (leaving him a mindless beast while the armor is in effect, and potentionally permanently), the only reason his mind is not lost, is that Silke can help pull his mind back (i.e; a spiritual being anchoring his mind to reality).

Claire's struggles with the Yoma does not have a spiritual anchor point, and is 100% self control and nothing else.

So again, Overall, I'd say it sounds a lot more like Berserk inspiration than Claymore to me, but Claymore was already heavily inspired by Berserk in the first place. Remove the female protagonist, and it suddenly doesn't feel\seem very Claymore, which is why I question it.

Hell, make the protagonist into an young elf-boy, and you suddenly have Übel blatt inspiration (even though it most definitely was not inspired by it), simply because they all share the same core inspiration; Berserk.

If you're just looking at the store page, then yeah I get why you don't see much Claymore in this game. Especially if you're mostly looking at Briars design. I'm talking mostly about the plotline and setting.

When I mentioned transcendence I wasn't referring to the berserk state, but the fact that Chimaeras (Claymores) can succumb to their corruption (yoma blood) and morph into powerful monsters called transcendent (awakened beings). The Order of the Ashen Blade is pretty reminiscent of The Organization as well, picking up people who have no family and imbuing them with the power of monsters and then ordering them to fight those same monsters.

If you don't see the influence from Claymore there then I don't know what else to say, and I don't really want to argue the point any more. I just think it's cool to see Claymore influence in a modern game, and it's a bit annoying to see that dismissed as Berserk influence and nothing else.

Just saw a bit gameplay. It's a mix of Berserk & Claymore. Sharp teeth and silver eyes with slits? Yap, Claymore. Good combination to be true, game looks sick.

Fair enough, as stated, basically just have what you see on the store page \ trailers to go by (and a few reviewer summaries, which intentionally avoid any lore and spoilers), so storyline plot-points will be spotty.

Reviewer synopsis paint the constant struggle of the mind in a way that it seems the sister is a key-being in keeping her sanity, which sounds more beserk than claymore as I said, but the other stuff you say definitely sound more claymore, so yeah, going by that I'd say it's clearly heavily inspired by both of them, though the store-page and reviewers scream Berserk influence, rather than claymore*.
