Absolutely horrible camera
Dear developers, really enjoyed the demo, the game. But why, why did you make such an uncomfortable and terrible camera!?

So divided here. Appreciate the feedback be it positive, neutral, or not so positive. ;)
The camera when out of battle is locked to provide a more cinematic look/feel. However, during combat the camera can be controlled freely and there is also an enemy lock-on/toggle option too. Give it another go and experiment.
You are forced to use lock-on in the free camera sections since the camera has no auto adjustment at all.

I mean, you finish the demo anyway since it's a spam fest and the game is extremely easy, the enemies does basically nothing, the only barely challenging part was the boss.

If the game become more hard then the camera is really an issue. The part in the "house" it really has a fight in a corridor where enemies are completely out of screen, you just spam and prey.

I doubt you are going to change any of the camera positions of the game at this point, so I don't even know how usefull is any feedback in this case so yeah, it was rough (especially compared to games like the God of War trilogy) and there isn't space to "experiment" other then play always with lock-on, which I suggest to do to be able to play it.

I had problems with the camera IN COMBAT (in exploration is fine, It was like playing old GoW games) and increasing the sensibility of the camera improved a lot my experience.

I think, the default parameters of sensibility are low. But I like the rest of the game.

Yes so bad

the camera angle / distance should be at least a bit adjustable - as long you're in fight - otherwise its seems good as it is in my opinion.

I think the design philosophy is fine. What is less ideal is the angle and how the camera move. The camera shake I find excessive.

Well, since you already have a free camera in some battles, I don't see a problem in making it an option or something. This way, everybody can play as they like.
I like to play with keyboard + mouse, so if I have to use the mouse for attacks, why not allow me to also control the camera?

At first, when I saw you are unable to control it, I assumed you don't need mouse at all, and you have to use keyboard to also attack and all.

The positives
+ The setting and story is interesting, I actually want to find out more from this world
+ Voice acting is good
+ Animation is a bit stiff, but still pretty good
+ There seems to be multiple weapons to master and skills to unlock
+ Cutscenes were pretty good too
+ Basic battle system is alright, I just hope there will be more combos and combinations with secondary weapons

The negatives
- Camera, big time. I know this seems to be a callback to old games like DMC3 and GOW, but if you have DMC2 level camera, it's a big no go for me. The camera in many sections is too low, too far away or shows only half or less of the battle stage. Having camera higher would make traversing easier on many sections. Okay when combat starts you can move the camera and lock on to enemies somewhat, but still it's really awkward. You cant see enough of the battle area or the enemies are just attacking far away from your view...I just remembered the old times when we had such issues and did not like that at all. I would have preferred 3rd person camera in our lords year 2022.
- The parry/block system needs some explanation or the prompt for that needs rework. For the 90% of the demo it seemed that I could block all incoming attacks if I just press it on time (or i could try to dodge it). Though in the long corridoor and boss section for some reason you cannot do that and some attacks come with no prompt appearing at all.
- The music: it seems that there is always the haunting celestial chant and when attack starts there is big delay when a "fight" music comes under the "haunting celestial" with 40% volume so you get a miss match of two songs playing at the same time. Specially in the boss section it just was confusing and I turned the music OFF. There should a transition from track to another, not playing them at the same time.
- The boss fight: Okay the boss takes damage when you parry/block, but for the love of god who likes to run to a boss for 1-2 strikes and run again when it flees? Okay it is a archer so it is not close range fighter, but even just it making some close range dodges and traps before leaping always to the other end would have felt way better than running across the field like a dog. Also during this fight the camera...chefs kiss how it can kill your enjoyment, getting those spears on ghostly blue balls on your face. Also the copy move when the camera is on the tower behind the archers back, dear god. It took me a while to notice that the arrow goes from the copies to copy which can hurt you big time. Hard thing to spot when your looking your ant running across the field from that view.

I got platinum on first run and diamond on the 2nd and 3rd run. I was beginning to imagine, if DMC5 or Elden ring had this games camera, would it be so bad....yes it would. It can ruin so much.

The game is amazing, but I do agree there should be an option to turn the fixed camera on and off. More options you give the player, the better the game.

I played with mouse and keyboard. At first I was thrown off by the camera, but I adjusted to it and I don't think it's bad after finishing the demo. I would still like to be able to move the camera around with the mouse like I can with arrow keys out of combat, doesn't have to be completely free, but within the plane the camera is looking would be fine.

Not a fan of the fixed camera too.

The best example I can give on how uncomfortable the experience with the camera are in the interior sections. Oddly enough we can rotate the camera a little bit in actual combat but control is inverted for some reason in comparison to normal exploration. Also the camera zooms in despite me not locking on to an enemy. I'm guessing that's down to the cinematic kills. I guess it kicks in more than it should. But the biggest pain in the interior section is I can't tell if an enemy is about to attack or approach me. Like I can't tell what the state of the battlefield at any given moment. This issue is even prevalent in the boss fight of the demo.

Also I see no reason for the fixed camera anyways in this game. The levels seem to be fully 3D. The only use for the fixed camera that I can think of here is for the platforming sections.

By the way the platforming is kind of a pain. Like I can't reliably gauge how long a single jump is and if one platform level could be reached by a single jump. So I just double jumped every time. I guess it's because movement is still 3 dimensional while platforming and the fixed camera is at weird angles. So instead of jumps being straight forward, there's a tendency for a lot of the jumps to be diagonal like away from or towards the camera. Instead of the jump ideally leaning towards whatever platform there is. Good thing that there's an auto clamber animation if you stick close enough to a platform. But I don't think that's enough. Like don't make the camera view angled away. Ideally the camera should be perpendicular to the platforms.

EDIT: I'd like to add though that everything else about the game is fun in the demo: Combat, presentation, music. I'm still excited for this game. But the camera and platforming is a big sore point for me with the demo.

I was not very upset that the camera is mostly static. I didn't like most of its positions, too low viewing angles. Emphasis is placed on the background of the location instead of taking into account the convenience of the player.
At the same time, in combat, where the camera can be rotated, its sensitivity is very high. And even the button to change the sensitivity on the mouse does not help much.
Otherwise, only good optimization is missing to have enough FPS.

Highly advised to unlock the camera or provide an alternate view option like Them and Us. Make the player the main focus like like Darksiders . Has a lot of potential, but the cam ruins it for some of us. Delay it if you have to. Don`t waste the hard work and talent that has definitely went into making this. It`s a beautiful game. Very beautiful.

Agree. Game looks stylish. Nice battle system similar to DMC. But camera really from PS2 time.
xtreem 26 AGO 2022 a las 9:41
Yeah i agree the camera is terrible and i think it should be free instead. It's hard to enjoy the scenery when i can't look at anything!
Crytei 26 AGO 2022 a las 10:02
Camera angles are awful during combat, forcing your perspective a certain way. Turning the camera feels slow and pointless. A completely free camera centered at the back of Briar at an upright angle how most melee combat games are would be much better. Rest of the game is great, but the camera issue is one that would make me not want to buy the game :(
