Playtest FAQs
With the Playtest running from 24th - 29th april, we thought it would be best to pop in some FAQs to help with the flow of lots of new hoteliers giving the game a go!

General FAQs:
When will Hotel Architect be released?
Hotel Architect will go into Early Access on May 20th!

How much will Hotel Architect cost?
Hotel Architect will be priced at £15.99 / $19.99 / €19.99 with a 20% discount running for 2 weeks on early access launch.

Will the game be singleplayer and/or multiplayer?
Hotel Architect is a singleplayer game.

How long is the playtest?
The playtest does not have a time limit, but is limited to only two locations in game. The scenarios take on average 90 minutes to complete but please don’t feel pressure to complete them within that and the sandboxes go on for as long as you’d like to play!
So take your time and enjoy being a Hotelier!

What platforms will the game be releasing on?
Currently, Hotel Architect is releasing exclusively on Steam. This may however change in the future.

Will the game run on steam deck? / Why aren’t buttons working on Steam Deck?
The UI is not designed for Steam Deck despite the game running on the platform itself. You will need to connect a keyboard in order to experience the game to its fullest.

Will more languages be coming to Hotel Architect?
Yes, we plan on having a variety of languages for at least the text, however we can’t confirm which and/or when they will make it into the game before full release.

Gameplay related FAQs:

Why can’t I delete the walls in an area?
The hotel must always be surrounded by outer walls, so you will not be able to remove the walls that directly separate the indoors and outdoors. Therefore, you will only be able to delete inner walls.

I can’t see what I’m doing behind the walls! Help!
You can hold the middle mouse button and move the mouse to tilt the camera and/or press T on the keyboard to lower some of the walls to make things easier to see when decorating etc.

Wallpapering is tedious, is there a way to do a whole room?
Hold the shift button on your keyboard while applying wallpaper, it will apply to all build walls in that room (if they are blueprints still, it will not apply to those). The same applies to carpet, for speedy building!

Why can’t I keep the hotel clean?
Make sure you have enough bins and cleaners around to manage the dirt and litter, especially if you have a lot of guests.

Why are my staff sleeping on the floor?
The staff are falling asleep on the floor due to exhaustion from being overworked, send them on a break! Hiring more workers can always help with managing the tasks and ensuring the staff can take breaks when they need to.

How do I get more guests of a specific type?
You can get more guests of a specific type by catering to their preferences. When making a room or placing items, check what appeals to that guest type. For example, Sporties love Gyms, Boxing machines and En-suite Bathrooms attached to their bedrooms.

Can I revisit locations?
You are free to revisit locations any time you’d like by selecting the location and either clicking “Continue”, “Load Game”, or you can click “New Scenario” if you’d like to start it again from a fresh save.

How does the campaign work?
In order to complete the campaign, you must at least complete all the main objectives in each location, which are shown within the “To Do List” in the top-left corner or at the top of the Rewards menu. The other objectives listed within the Rewards menu are optional, and will allow you to unlock all the items for that location.

How does Sandbox mode work?
Sandbox mode unlocks after you complete all main objectives in the first location, Gothenburg. In Sandbox, you’re free to see your own rules, deciding how much money you start with, which guest types are available, and how frequently the garbage service and supply refill workers arrive. This is a great mode to experiment freely and explore all the possibilities that come with being a hotelier.

What guest types are in the game?
There are 6 different guest types in total, all with different needs and preferences. These include Backpacker, Sporty, Business, Sunbather, Brat and Upper crust. Different locations have different accessible guest types.
Currently in this demo Backpacker, Sporties, Sunbathers and Brats are available as guests. Business and Upper Crust will come at a later date.

How do I improve guest reviews?
You can improve guest reviews by pandering to their preferences. You can check what they like and dislike in the “Guests” tab of the People menu to help cater to their needs. You can also see the general feedback from guests that have already visited and left reviews on the “Ratings” tab of the Financial Overview menu, and use that as general feedback on what needs improving. The critic will also give you a more detailed review after their stay has ended.

Can I delete/undo blueprints?
Hold CRTL while dragging the wall tool over the blueprints to undo. This works on blueprints of foundations and internal walls as well. There is currently not an undo button in Hotel Architect, however the team are aware that this has been requested.

Can I copy and paste rooms?
No, however the developers are looking into creating a feature to be able to do this as we understand that creating 100 bedrooms might be a bit frustrating!

How does the save system work?
The game will autosave when you complete different stages of the Tutorial and when you complete main objectives, as well as generating autosaves at regular intervals. You can also create manual saves at any point in time.

If you’ve not got an answer to your question from this post to find, please post in the steam community or join the Discord and ask in the Hotel Chat channel. https://Discord.gg/HotelArchitect The team will be happy to help!

I wonder why You deleted my post from Playtest feedback :) Someone answered, and I couldn't read it. Not nice to do that. Going to ignore this game now.,

Hey there, I'm afraid your post was on the playtest discussion forums, not the Hotel Architect normal page discussions. When a playtest is run, it acts as a different product, so has its own forums. As the playtest has now closed, players cannot access those anymore - we cant control this, it happens automatically via steam.

We have noted your feedback as we do with every player that leaves comments in our steam forums and on our social media.

I can see your post as a moderator and the reply was from another user:

For me it is the ultimate game for running a hotel. The cozy sweet graphics are just the right thing for me. I really enjoyed the playtest levels and was allready hooked after the first one. Don't know if that is planned, but i would really like an empty lot with all the possibilities from starting from scratch (maybe with getting to choose little start money for a challenge). I can even see successor games or dlcs once this is finished with another theme like building and running a motel or bed and breakfast / having fantasy guests like werwolves/Vampires/elves or running a carwash with repair station..... (this game inspires a lot!) Keep up the great work!
