The visitation doesn't kill you even if you are fully exposed. You just gain a bunch of Tunguska Syndrome which you can treat with a serum sold by the Priest.
Why couldn't you hide in the lake side mansion though? It's a big house with 2 stories and the enemies don't hang out inside it. just make a dash into the house and then upstairs, and camp there for the NPCs to walk into your line of fire
Well, I guess the simple answer is because there were enemies all over the place, and just going full leroy jenkins straight toward the building when there are people pointing guns at you with a 1-2 second TTK is suicide. Thus, where to go in 30 seconds? Maybe I just suck at the game, it's fine.
If you are in the middle of the lake map and hear the siren what do you do? Sprint to the boat or the village hoping to avoid all the near invisible anomalies within 30 seconds?
When hard = complain
