Request to Adjust Stack Limits in Game Storage
Dear @Rotorist,

As avid fans and dedicated players, we thrive on the collecting and hoarding aspects intrinsic to survival games. It’s a core part of why we enjoy this genre so much.

I understand the rationale behind stack limits in a backpack for gameplay balance, but I find the current limits on container storage to be overly restrictive. Could you consider increasing the number of items per stack, either universally or specifically within storage containers?

This isn’t a solitary request; many in the community share this sentiment. I’ve attempted all available workarounds – modifying databases, adjusting save games, even starting new games – but it seems the max_stack_size is hardcoded. The only alternative has been using cheats, which surprisingly can hold like 2000 units of wood in one slot. But this workaround disrupts the game’s immersion and feels awkward.

Allowing players to adjust max stack sizes could enhance our gaming experience without diminishing the challenge or fun.

Thank you for considering this feedback.

Which type of items do you feel most restrictive in terms of stack size?
Gutseberek Aug 2, 2024 @ 12:16am
Since there's weight limit, maybe you can increase the stack limit of most items?

Exclusions: Weapons, armors, helmet, head gear, weapon attachments, tools

Anyway, I'm used to it. Hope you can consider in the future updates.

Organizing your bag and storage is kinda fun and challenging.
Yup. I do agree. Sorting / Managing inventory should be a challenge and once you are happy with the setup its a nice reward

for a hoarder, there's never enough. When I tried to mod this game by editing the DB, I wanted x10 limit for all stacks, except quest items and tools. Stacking weapons almost feels like a cheat, but I wouldn't mind that either.

3x decades of experience taught me that a good game is balanced by the dev. A perfect game opens up doors for modders because one solution never matches all perspectives. Take "Skyrim" for example. The mods allowed it to be alive what...? 12-14 years after its launch...
When I'm taking my motorcycle to a new location, would be cool to go there with all my ammo, all my weapons, keep the overweight on the moto then come back and refill my ammo in the backpack / change weapons each time I'm out. I find the weight limit restrictive enough - that, I wouldn't change, is very realistic.

Thanks for considering this. You don't know how much we appreciate your interaction.

Definitely has to be Serum Ingredients/Food Stuff, Workbench Supplies and Ammo/Grenades

While i do agree that the stack size feels to small in "Storage", in the personal inventory it's perfect for balance.

I would love to see a "Crate/Box/Pack" crafting option where you can pack 4 stacks of the desired item up at the Workbench for long term storage.

Have the "Crate/Box/Pack" crafting option cost 5 wood and 1 scrap metal.

Make the "Pack" be a 2x2 in the inventory and stack up to 10x

Then have the "Pack" only able to be opened at the Workbench by "Dismantle" function, returning the items, but sacrificing the wood and scrap metal to make the "Pack".

This feels in my opinion the most "Balanced" offering a way to optimise storage in the long run, while permitting ease of storage movement. It also prevents bringing the "Ingredient Chest/Scrap Yard/Armoury" everywhere you go, including combat.

I'm also frustrated at first but this game also offers a realistic/survival style (human limit). The maps are small and you should know where the storage, workbench and serum labs are located. Hoarding is not a problem, because you'll still go back and forth during the faction and hitman requests.

If the item stack limits are increased (say x999, but exclude those with durability), we may only need 3 or 4 storage (or less) with a box size 16x10? 1 storage box may hold all serum and food ingredients already. In addition, I think all items should only occupy one slot and the full image is shown on the details when hovered by the mouse. From here, only one storage box is needed. We can increase the weight limit after so it's ok for me.

We can request for additional features for now. Example:
1. Food box - just like the serum box, can put drinks also (4x5 size)

2. Belt - additional ammo/explosive holder (i know there's a pocket and weapon attachment which increase ammo size)

3. Telephone & courier service - you can use this to access/organize your item remotely for a fee and to deliver those serum requests

4. Hiring NPC - ability to hire mercenaries to aid you on battle (can be ordered like stay in place, defensive or offensive mode), servers as additional item carrier as well. At Ravenwood, a guard and farmer may help as well.

5. Bestiary - information about ghouls and animals, I think of a mastery hunting here is possible as well, like damage and loot value increases when a certain kill count is achieved

Fix request:
1. Workbench - items on the input and output side should stay there (like a storage, but I think the field repair kit will be affected)
2. Steel rack cabinet - the cabinet is large but the item slots should be double in size as well
3. Can cut any tree - please correct me for this one

Yes, mods and it greatly enhances the game. Although mentioned on the modding guide by the developer, hope they will consider it.

Midway through nightmare mode, I've been hoarding a lot of scrap metal since most merchants cannot afford the guns I sell them, I end up scrapping most guns selling for under 1k rubles and I have a locker full of scrap metal. Their 2x2 size and stacking up to only 30 seems fairly restrictive, especially when I end up with way more scrap than I can use but don't want to throw them away.

Another item I would generally horde would be explosives or ammo but that would much more likely cause some balance issues in a non-cheaty run if their size cap increased.

this exactly my point: a single setup won't satisfy everyone, no matter how well designed is. You'd prefer x999, I'd go with a lower limit (x750 for ammo, x100 for food, x500 for scrap etc.).

I think we should agree not asking for a hard-coded change. We should be asking for a way to easily modify it by ourselves.
As mentioned in the OP, I tried to modify the "max_stack_size" in the database, but it doesn't work at all. Surprisingly, I was able to modify the description and other parameters, but stack size clearly is hard-coded somewhere.

If we agree that we're all asking for an easy to edit parameter to be passed to the game, I think the developer will consider this feedback - he seems very engaged.

Thanks

I wholeheartedly agree with you that we need to increase stack limits. I love this game however I can tell you that it is frustrating constantly having so many different locations to stash all my stuff. I have used all inventory at the railroad and then have stashes all over other maps which become a real hassle having to go back and forth to gather different items. I agree no need to stack weapons and armor and quest items however pretty much everything else needs to be greatly expanded upon...or have more storage lockers at a given location (or even create your own). I actually was coming on here hoping there is a way I can go in and edit some minor value (I am not a modder) just so I can increase stack size so if anyone knows of a way let me know but I hate that point when you are playing a game and the inventory mgmt becomes a chore, it then saps the fun the game has for me.

I do love the game and hope to see some mod support either way hope to see Tunguska 2 "Now with higher stack sizes" :)

In Ravenwood DLC you can have your own "player base" with massive amount of storage.

I know I must be moving slow I've only clocked 44hrs in the game and havent hit Ravenwood yet, just took out the oblenska (sp?) army base) and it has been a struggle. Still pushing through this game as it is just great, any changes that are requested are only to make the game even better. :)

I plan to increase the stack size for the small ingredients.

Ravenwood home at the basement. Metal cabinets, it has a 10x16 box size per cabinet, it has to be double in size if possible. Hope you can consider. Thanks

OK I finally am in Ravenwood and have travelled to the church and pig farm, through the forest, so far havent come across the house I can buy (not sure if I have to finish a quest yet or not) My question is since I have already completed the main quest by the time I get the house it seems like my journey is over. Should I have gone to Ravenwood much earlier as now I feel like I missed out on the player house and by the time I get it...well it's too late to be useful.
