Elm Trees not dropping Elm branches

Basically I'm hitting the short red trees that looks like an elm tree yet it does not drop any branches. Am I doing something wrong or have I been hitting the wrong tree this whole time? I've tried hitting it with a lumber axe, crowbar, and entrenching tool but it still wont drop anything.

If you're grinding firewood, look for the tall thin trees with yellow and brown leaves. I notice the ax which has a +tree cutter option is dumb rather than the normal ax which has no +tree cutter option but more efficient. There's free firewood at the back of Razor if you want also.

Elm branches are sold by Haruko in the swamp only. It does make sense that some trees should drop them but I don't know if it's implemented by developer yet.

the trees will drop them in dead zone mode where you will have recipes to craft different types of crossbow bolts
