IMHO it is Unreal Engine 5 game. Why not allow to customize characters or at least their Alters?

That would only require one additional voice actor to hire and maybe some small coding. Bitmap arts could be "altered" with AI. ;-)

Even if it stays male character only, having no customization is just lame.
Might as well watch "gameplay" on Youtube or skip this B grade movie.

In time, I'm curious about how more complex the QC system can get, with some level of customization for our main character - at the very least allowing us to choose a female one -, brand new ones, more life events and stories.

Because you're not making a custom character.

The main character is Jan Dolski. Who has led his own life leading up to this point.

The Alters are the different outcomes of different decisions made in that life.

And a major point of the game is interacting with them to understand them better through the decisions they have made in their lives.

If you could customize the character completely, that would take away all of that.

The game's engine has absolutely nothing to do with the game's story and/or the dev artistic intent for the project. just admit it: you are just forcing/projecting your own whims on top of someone elses vision...

Jan is a gender neutral name. I know men, in America, who have the name Jan pronounced with the English J sound, and also men who have it pronounced with the English "Y" sound as it is in the game, and which is quite common in Europe. For women, it's usually short for Janet or Janice, but not always.

All those post really said is that you're completely ignorant of the world, and likely under the age of 14.

The design of each alter will be based on whatever their life path was. Why do you feel a customizable character is necessary? Do you complain about being unable to customize Mario, Kratos or Master Chief? Customizable characters make sense in some games, but not all.
A female character would also have to have a completely different life path designed, as most of Jan's story, even just what was shown in the demo for the primary and 1 alter, wouldn't fit for a female character. I would suspect this could be a possible option for a DLC package later, but that probably depends on how the main game does.
