Max players in coop
I just wondered what your plans are for maximum number of players in coop?

I play in a group where there are almost always 5 but sometimes more, games often have a seemly arbitrary 4 player limit which means they get overlooked when we are on the hunt for a new game.

Hey,
I think we will be looking into 4 players max, but maybe this will be different. It’s mostly connected to balance of the game. Once settled, we will definitely post an update.

coop has always been 2-4 player since forever, anymore would just make it multiplayer.

I believe it's been 2-4 simply because when we played split-screen growing up you could only have 4 people max, however you should just be happy that you have a constant friend base to play with, most of us don't have that unless we join a pointless gaming clan.

Coop just refers to the gameplay not number of players, something like Arma has coop missions which supports 16+ players.

If you want to join our discord server your more than welcome, we are a group mainly based in europe that play a few different types of game, it's kind of a drop-in and see whats on thing with no clan related crap to deal with! sometimes people just hang around while they play their own games.

4 would be great. I regularly play with 3 other players and this game is right up our ally, can't wait for it to come out.

maybe so, but by standard definitions I was saying where the term initially came from, may have changed nowadays but its kept that way mainly for balancing in the world, imagine you playing with 16+ players are you moving walker/ship/vehicle ya'll could literally jump off and harvest the whole vacinity in minutes and get back on build whatever you need and well their's no challenge

Yeah, I get that and your right that it is hard to balance... unless it's decided on earlier in development to support more people, clearly more than 5-6 people probably wouldn't work well in this game. but in a lot of games it's very easy to balance, when your setting up the game you tell it how many players you want and it simply scales things to that, i.e.
Normally you would have 10 zombies chasing, but when players=5 make that 13 zombies!

Resources shouldn't be that hard to balance as every new player will add to the required amounts of everything, you suddenly need more food, drink, weapon/tool crafting items, ammo. with a bit of testing there's no reason it couldn't be done.

Your also right that 4-player probably does come from the old days of split screen!
