How to join co-op

Pressing start on the second controller does nothing.
How do I join the second player?

Bought the humble bundle to play with my daughter.
Paw Patrol works fine, but she want to play the pony game.

We're sorry to hear you're having difficulties playing in Co-Op mode. The game only allows co-op mode in the mini-games, the story mode can only be played in single-player. If it's still not letting you join with the second controller in the minigames, please let us know and we will continue investigating.

That sucks you couldn't actually invole coop especially if you could get siblings or parents involved with the game instead of them backseat gaming
