Multiplayer Nightmare

Clearly using the mutliplayer for this game is a nightmare. I am just trying to host a local game between separate machines in my home and can't achieve this. This seems like this should be pretty straight forward but not sure why this is so difficult. I have a spectrum modem/router combo. Why does Steam not offer multiplayer support for this game?

If you are hosting this in home OVER the internet, the problem is most likely using the wrong IP address. Go to google, type my IP and this address is the one you need the other computer to use. If that's not the issue then it's probably being blocked by your firewall
