Guide: How to remote play together with family member
This was done on x2 steam decks but could probably be done / be easier on other devices. I was frustrated that couldnt play online due to child being too young for PSN account, I didnt want to connect to a tv or share a tiny screen and, as a bonus, this way opposed to online play means you only need 1 copy of the game and dont have to be sat right next to eachother. This game does not support steam remote play together for local co op as standard but there is a workaround:

1: Download and install Sackboy game on steam.

2: On host steam deck, download a random free game off the store that has remote play together, you can search for it as a tag in the search bar in game mode. Reason being is that you will not play this game, its a dummy throwaway. Install it usual way.

3: Enter desktop mode and open steam. Right click the dummy game (LT) and manage / open location of installed files. Do the same for Sackboy game and keep both the screens open

4: Take a note of the dummy games program filename in this folder e.g PingPong.exe then delete all the files in its folder. Then copy all the files from Sackboy folder and paste it in the now empty dummy game folder. This may take a while.

5: Rename the Sackboy program file from Sackboy.exe to the dummy programs original filename e.g PingPong.exe

6: On the host deck you can now return to game mode. Find the installed dummy game still under its original name (but in reality it is now the sackboy game). I recommend in properties of the game adding the command -dx11 (seems to make sackboy run better) and using compatibility proton experimental. Play the game and it will now load up sackboy although to others it will look like you are playing a different game. You will not be able to access the games online play now or connect to PSN. Start a game so you are on a level with your character. Then, if you click the ▪︎ ▪︎ ▪︎ button you will now see the remote play together menu option ( controller with wifi logo) and can now invite a friend or send a game link invite to remote play together. The game will now stream from this device.

7: For some reason, on the now joining steam deck, it only seems to run properly if you enter desktop mode and open steam from there. In game mode, it will join and play audio but will cause an error and not show any video. In steam desktop app, open your chat messages and you should see the game invite or copied invite code from the host. Click to remote play together and enjoy! Seems to run suprisingly well obviously dependant on your internet connection.
