Online Co-Op Epic Games Error?

I can't seem to join my friend's game without getting a "failed to connect epic games" error. I try to click on "link to epic games", but every time I click, it won't respond or do anything? And I double checked epic games website and my steam account is linked! HELP! I want to play, like soon..

If you both unlink Epic games and refuse to relink it, it seems to use Steamworks which is a lot more reliable.

The work around to this is to hover over the link to Epic games button and then click it using the middle mouse button, this should populate a pop up window that should allow you to connect your epic account.
