Controls no longer work

I finished the first world last night and this morning I find that when I load the controls are no longer working (keyboard or controller), the game hasn't frozen as there's still movement in the world.

I was able to walk around on the title screen and move through the menu.

Very frustrating as my nieces were really looking forward to playing for the first time (I finished the first world so that they'd have levels to play through).

Has this happened anyone else?

Nope, it shows rocket ship but Sackboy doesn't come out of it.
