I won't be buying this on PC if the PC version is plagued with the Unreal engine stutter/ hitching issues.. we shall see.

What kind of potato do you run? I've never had UE problems unless game is optimized like ass

what?
your PC trash then if you have stutters in most UE games lol

Unreal Engine stutter is a thing and better hardware isn't really going to help. It happens when compiling shaders (mostly at it's worst on DX12 as DX12 is known for having this issue in the first place). The games you guys are playing are probably good ports and have mitigated those stutters.

UE stutters are not an unsolvable problem. A good dev can fix it (Though I think Epic should also address the issue). I didn't know Sack Boy was on Unreal. I think it's too soon to say Sack Boy is going to have stutters just because it's on Unreal, but tbh the OP did say "if it's plagued with UE stutter".

Yes, stutters happen due to shaders compiling. The engine was designed that way and unreal engine 5 should not have the stuttering because it will load everything instantly.

Are you sure you're not talking about the shader compilation that happens on the development side while working on the game in the editor? When UE4 was compiling shaders, Development workflow had to be paused to wait for shaders to compile which is no longer an issue in UE5. I'm not sure if shader compilation is fixed for the players yet since Fortnite still has them, but I can't think of any other game that's using UE5.

Thanks Torbulous for making it clear what issues exist with both the Unreal engine and DX12. I believe the Devs for UE5 are currently working on a fix that will come in a future UE5 patch to hopefully eliminate this issue.

If you're right, that's awesome!! I figured Epic just didn't care about how games turned out on PC, but a lot of people are talking about the stutters that happen with UE games, which I'm sure doesn't make their engine look great.
The replies in this thread shows that people on the internet have no shame about talking about stuff they don't understand. It's okay to not know anything about this stuff, but to blurt out "you have a potato PC" or "your PC is trash if you have stutters in UE games" lol. People do the same thing about Denuvo.
