If you don't have a bought research desk, you are much more likely to get more (it remains in the normal loot pool).
So if you save your first research desk in the blueprint cabinet and wait for another one, you can immediately upgrade it to get your research setup a good kickstart.
Also if you use the phone correctly you can maybe literally always have enough for a desk.
You'll get the research desk eventually.
2. I think you dont get the fact that when you buy a research desk the chances of another dropping drop considerably, you should put the first desk in the the drawer not buy it, otherwise your chances to get a discount, blueprint or copy desk are quite slim.
3. If you dont care to get the copy/blueprint/discount desks, cause you consider not needing them as you never plan to go far into overtime than you dont need the research desk in the first place as well.
Consider what you actually need to buy more over putting priority on upgrades that cost you money, money you dont have that early on, because thats from my experience what causes a lot of players to have problems reaching day 15 and franchising. Having a research desk can be good, but having it while needing plates or tables is the fastest way to end your runs.
