Can't seem to use advanced build mode

I've updated the game, removed all workshop mods, and can't seem to get into advanced build mode. There's no tooltip to enter it, nor do any buttons seem to work. Is there something specific needed to unlock it?

You need a certain level to unlock it. In the garage next to the item carts there should be a crane. In prep mode you can switch to it by holding the ping button.

Have you tried walking up to the new crane thing that appeared? when you do it tells you to hold your PING button in build mode to enter advanced build mode.

It's kind of ridiculous that it's so hard to find out how to actually use the crane! I was looking around for it forever but couldn't find any info on keybinds or quick-keys in the game at all. This game has such glaring UX-issues...
