Definitely does. Most cards give 100xp, and you need 7700 xp to get level 10 for Extended Floor Plans. Since you only get a card every three days, after including your initial main dish, you have to play through about 150 days to get them. Keeping any franchises also slows down this process for some reason.
The really weird thing is, you get Huge Floor Plans immediately afterward at level 11, only an extra 20 or so days. Not only is the first size upgrade really far in, the second size upgrade happening right afterward means the first upgrade barely means anything. I think it would make more sense for the first size upgrade to be closer to level 6, where you unlock the weekly maps (and thus your ability to play on the larger maps anyway).
It's okay if you don't know. It's okay if you didn't look it up and learned it after asking it here. What is not okay is calling something you don't like "stupid" right of the bat, and demanding people "fix this glaring issue" before you ascertain the truthfulness of your speculations.
While 150 days is 10 completions, I don't think it's too much to ask for before moving on to larger venues. I do however agree that larger floor plans shouldn't come that close to previous size unlocks. Keeping in mind if 10 completions are required for the first venue size milestone, keeping the milestones equally apart could devolve into something grindy. So considering there are multiple (2) venue size milestones, the first one could be pulled back a little, while the second one could be pushed further slightly.
Franchising is something for those who want an "endless" mode, or a NG+ feel. Since the game is designed around randomized runs, I think it's fair that it's not incentivized. My personal opinion is that even "seeded runs" are against the nature of the game. It's nice to have for those who want to play their game their way, but in no way the game should be designed and balanced around that, or franchising for that matter.
The past few updates we have played, we have only been able to get small diner maps that arent really any good for 4 player sessions. Seeded runs have been difficult as most the seeds that come up are really strange mishmash shapes of rooms that my friends absolutely dont want to play. They just want a decent sized square map to work around and chill out with. We used to use "Blargh" which had a pretty good size but the seeds got shuffled again and we lost it.
Why are seeds being shuffled every update?
Yeah, this does concern me also.
i've reached level 16 and still stuck with small maps.
Sometimes it makes food with low income (hotdog, burgers) almost unwinnable.
Yeah, I know, BLARGH used to be a good seed before it got shuffled.
currently I'm just sticking to custom seeds now just to have big maps, (e.g. CUDDLE, ARROWKEY)
However, this also fixed the item spawn every stage, so basically it removes the randomness as you know when to get good items like conveyors and coffee tables
